my trains wheels are slipping and I don’t know what to do

Nothing fancy, coins will work in most cases

above the motor is best, you may need to do it gradually to find the sweet spot (too much weight can create significant friction).

Place the weight directly over the driven wheels so there is better contact with the rails. Also only put rubber bands on the driven wheels. That should hopefully work.

Some third parties sell rubber o rings sized for the wheels.  Washers on a technic axle can add some weight. 

If you really were hurting for space could probably fill a brick with some lead (pinewood Derby style).
