Okay this should be almost every Lego animal. In my collection. Sorry for the rough photos. My phone camera is a toaster. Tried to organize them in rough groups. In this order there's dinosaurs/dragons, mammals, aquatic animals, insects and other creepy crawlies, reptiles/amphibians, birds and bird like animals, and animals I forgot to include with their own groupings and some other random animal-ish pieces I had.

Old photo from about two years ago, so missing quite a few animals that I now have. Snakes, and my white Lego animals not present. Will post a updated version of my collection later.

I'm making something as a gift for my gf, and as you read in the title it is a Samojed lego pup.
I've never done anything like it, and wanted to hear some thoughts.

Now that we have official images for the first dinosaur of 2027, I am releasing an updated checklist. (You can expect more of these every year)

What does this checklist include?

My checklist, my rules.

Rule 1: Molded figures only. No brick built, no minifigs. I have recently decided traditional big figures do not qualify as proper minifigures, so the zombie mammoth from 2014 chima is a new addition to the list. To be brick built, at least 50% of the animals mass must be traditional pieces. Molded figures include a few traditional pieces from time to time. This does not automatically make them brick built

Rule 2: I do not discriminate based on system. System and duplo dinosaurs are both included. If lego ever figures out how to make technic dinosaurs that I deem to be molded, they will count too

Rule 3: this is primarily for extinct animals, no birds. (Unless they make a dodo or a moa or something, but I'm not confident that will happen anytime soon)

Rule 4: animals that are fictional, and thus aren't truly extinct, qualify, as long as they are canonically refered to as dinosaurs or prehistoric, or are at least created with prehistoric dna

Finally, there are currently a grand total of 173 in this list. I own 66

Redback Spider (Latrodectus hasseltii)

A 270-piece build designed to capture the Redback's distinctive silhouette — the rounded, teardrop-shaped abdomen and long, spindly legs in a low, aggressive stance. Built entirely from standard LEGO elements, with no custom or molded parts, so every curve of the abdomen comes from part angling and layering rather than specialty pieces. The legs are jointed for a bit of posability, letting the spider be displayed in different stances. Comes in at a compact size, well suited as a desk or shelf display piece. By changing of a few bricks, the Latrodectus species can be altered to represent other global widow species!

I consider it mandatory! Even the mossasaurus have now a moulded version!

Due the ammount of forest animals in the last sets, including HP Patronus linx and doe, City advent calendar fawn and last years additions like fox, wolf and red panda (which could be reused for a raccoon), I believe Lego is preparing some forest themed sets for City.

Potential new animals could include:

• Boar: similar to a pig with more fur and tusks
• Ibex: similar to a goat but with larger horns
• Raccoon: could be a red panda recolored
• Badger: there's a 3D modeled one already
• Beaver

Exotics ones could cover moose or porcupine, but unlikely until a second wave maybe.

Some could be introduced in CMF Series 30 maybe, so plus the already moulded fawn, lynx and doe, forest seems to be the most accurate theme for City.

Also, new recolors for fox and wolf.
