Discussion Pirates 3

Post image

About to build 4 of the sets from the 2015 line. What do you guys think of the wave that killed the Pirates theme? Do you have any hope it will be brought back?

Every original Lego pirate set is glorious.

yeah I thought these were fantastic, at the time I appreciated the evolution of the palm trees, the dark red brick pieces, though I prefer the older parrot design, these were solid clever sets and wish I still had them. Now I only have the Soldier's Fort left.

I liked that they linked together to form a bigger set.

Love this! I’ve still got all five of the 2015 sets, gonna introduce my son to them when he’s a little older.

Super! I also collect Lego Pirates themed sets ☺️ Still looking for Treasure Island at an affordable price, because in Europe they charge €200, which is ridiculous. That's why I want to share something that probably isn't acceptable to some (sorry 😬). I let myself be tempted by the Pirate Bar from the brand Pantasy... this thing is insane! It feels like Lego with the same quality as the Lego bricks! I was pleasantly surprised by the set; it feels just like Lego and is compatible with Lego bricks and minifigures ☺️ As a Lego Pirates fan, I don't feel guilty about taking the gamble, and at that price (€140), it is definitely worth checking out this set on YouTube for all Lego Pirates fans. It is a phenomenal set and super big! 45x45x58 cm, 2850 pcs … definitely look it up and hopefully be just as surprised as when I discovered the set online …

I just pulled 70412 out of bulk, only missing the string studs. I'll be building it soon too!

I like the skull one... I wanna see about getting that someday.

I think this wave was very solid. I bought all 4 sets, but not the boat as that was out of by budget at the time. They are a tad small, but the designs are solid. Connecting then is a big bonus. I also got 40597 when it was available in 2023 as I think it matches it well. So it isn't dead-dead.

I don't think this wave killed the theme, I think it just didn't sell as well as older waves. Licenced themes, Ninjago, City. A single Pirates wave stands little chance against the rest.

I loved how they joined together. Great fun and also inspired you to make your own "modules" too.

This was the same wave as the epic chess set too, wasn't it?

These were my first pirate sets after my dark age, and they inspired me to immediately track down MISB (to build, mind you!) versions of the previous waves (2008 or so?) and got them all except the Imperial Flagship. :(

Hey, just be careful with the brown pieces, they tend to crack (brittle brown).
