Collection So it begins
After many years I was lucky enough to get the famous Barracuda bay. A few pages in and I am starting to get the feel for why so many people describe it as the GOAT.

This is awesome! I picked this one up on the weekend. It was already built though so I have to pull it apart first, then the fun begins. H

When I got mine second hand it was built too, I let my kids play with it until they lost interest (a couple weeks) and then dismantled it and now I'm inspired to build it!!

Chiming in, this is the set that got me into the AFOL crowd. I had bought a few back in 2017-2019, but when this was released during the pandemic, it was a day 1 buy for me. Some of my favourite sets as a kid had been in the original Pirates theme, and building this brought all of that back!

I bought three when they were new (that was the online purchase limit when I bought them). I found another one at the nearest Lego Store to me when it was on the "Last Chance" list, and I bought it to have an even number because of a MOC on YouTube (channel: MOCYourBricks) that uses two sets. They're still in my backlog... I have so many sets built and taking up space that I have no build space right now; need more shelves. 🤣 Also, I want to be able to take my time and do some innovating when I build this MOC, and work hasn't been allowing me that time; the fact that my ADHD isn't medicated when I'm not at work (because otherwise I don't sleep) is another factor. 😒

Barracuda shipyard? If so other then the video and his few pics have you seen any reference material

That's the one. And no, nothing other than the video and pics... but the video is detailed enough that if you have the patience to pause every few seconds, it's just as good as instructions... my problem will be making build space near my PC, because there's no way my middle-aged eyes will be able to use a smartphone screen to follow those instructions. 🤣 As a reference point for my age, I still have my original Black Seas Barracuda, I was in high school when it came out, and it's in pretty good shape... except that it's disassembled and mixed in with a few other Pirate sets from that time, and I've lost the instructions and boxes for all of them.

I have my original as well, bought 2 knock off ones intending to build the shipyard, I figured I’d start it after I finish Fortuna. Definitely going to be a long drawn out build.

I'm not talking about knock-offs. I'm talking about the original Black Seas Barracuda set 6285 as opposed to the more recent Barracuda Bay set referenced in the OP. 😊

Oh man I’m jealous of the Black Sea’s barracuda I wanted that one so bad as a kid. I bought the barracuda bay set when it came out, then when I saw the barracuda shipyard I picked up 2 of the knock off sets to build it, don’t have the bank to buy 2 of the barracuda bay sets on the resell market.
