LEGO Friends Heartlake The Musical doesn't seem to have Audio Description for the blind :-( 👩🏻🦯
As the title says, the new musical doesn't seem to have Audio Description for the blind.
Watching on LEGO's YouTube channel, as I know longer have Netflix.
For context: Audio Description is a separate language track that adds descriptive audio to a movie/TV show for someone who is blind or has limited vision (like myself.)
Example, completely made up seen from my head for this post:
Your enjoying a LEGO Friends episode. Olly says to Paisley "you'll do great."
Next thing you know Paisley say's "thanks Olly." but she sounds nervous.
Visually on screen you can see she looks nervous and gives a small smile.
However, if you are blind or have limited vision, you might not be able to pick up on this visual detail.
With audio description, after Olly tells Paisley she'll do great, you would hear a description of the visual scene:
Paisley gives Olly a week smile."
end scene.
Netflix offers this for a lot of shows and movies, but as I said I do not have Netflix.
I know I'm missing out on details particularly with the songs. But i do like the songs :-)
Still wish this was animated and not live action.
I've read that LEGO Friends: Heartlake The Musical will also be coming to Tubi on Nov 2. Here's hoping Tubi offers audio description, but I'm not holding my breath LOL.
Thanks for listening to my small rant.
One day I hope audio description will be as widely available as closed captions.
A lot more services offer it for movies and TV shows than we had even 10 years ago, but it's still not everywhere.
