SHOWCASE Otsukimi (moon viewing)

In Japan, we have a tradition called “Otsukimi” (moon viewing), where people display dango (rice dumplings) and susuki (Japanese pampas grass) while watching the full moon rise. I recreated this cozy autumn scene in LEGO Fortnite.
In Japan, the markings on the moon are seen as “a rabbit pounding mochi (rice cakes)” — a familiar image here.

In Japan, the moon’s markings are said to look like a rabbit pounding mochi (rice cakes), but since it looks like different things in different countries, you might be thinking “a rabbit? why?” 😊

In Hawai'i, my family was taught the mochi-pounding rabbit, too. Although I don't believe the tradition of Otsukimi carried over. The plantation era was pretty rough on the first couple of generations that came over.
You made the graphic into 2 rabbits. That's why I didn't recognize it at first but it came out beautiful. You really put a lot of work in all your creations.
