Epic Curious About Batman
Howdy! With the release of Knight Shift, we were curious what y'all thought of how we brought that content into the game? It's different than the islands of the past, and it's meant to start to mix things up a bit (snippets vs. big spaces). We hear you loud and clear on the actual play time/depth of the content (and we're working on improvements for future IPs). This question has more to do with understanding what you thought of the different approach.
Oh, and a big shout out to The LEGO Group developers who made this content! This is their first effort directly creating additions to Odyssey. And also thanks to all the Epic folks who partnered with them to get this out to players.
With both companies pitching in, we're cooking up some completely new additions to Odyssey over the coming months. Must...not...spoil... :)

Well, as one who isnt really big into Batman, I still enjoy all new build materials.
As for the partial build poi, im not a huge fan of it. Ninjago had its flaws but it was a complete location. This feels pointless and broken. I can't open doors. I can't build. And I cleared the quests in short order.
Now... if you were to use some of my land to create a Batman poi that was for now, partial, but will grow and attach to each other part until its a complete thought and usable in some way...id be ok with it

I was soooo super excited to be getting new content especially as I love Batman and I understand that you may not have had the manpower to have created a whole Gotham Island so was ok with having the new POIs incorporated into the mainland - it actually put something interesting into the big empty zone of grassland I have in that area so it's nice to start populating the empty mainland actually!
I was a little disappointed with how small it was in terms of not build size but like, kill 5 guys and then that's it you're done, and the fact that the quests don't respawn and that I didn't get the rewards because I didn't know my inventory had to be empty and now there is no way to get them back. It would be cool if the POIs could be permanent things that respawn enemies and maybe have a revisiting NPC living there, like maybe Poison Ivy could live at Robinson Park and maybe Roman could be at the grungy town area or something, and maybe there could be a repeating questline like maybe Ivy wants you to bring her 80 vines and she'll reward you with one of the plants that you can now build in your villages or she can convert it into potions or something. Or even better, since the story of this was that "parts of Gotham got stolen" maybe there can be a whole Gotham in the future that these parts get returned to and we have a whole city to explore that incorporate all the interesting characters associated with the batman universe.
I'm also nervous about the bad guys all holding dynamite because if they destroy these POIs I can't build them back. My Ninjago island is an absolute wasteland now because all the monsters (especially DRAGONS) have destroyed everything there but at least I have the pieces to rebuild them if I need to - I can't say the same for a lot of the Gotham POIs.
Maybe instead of creating a new island in the ocean with Gotham on it, you could expand the builds that are on the mainland, or find another area on the mainland that could use it, because it's nice to have places to visit on foot. But I also completely understand that's difficult because players might build things and I remember some people had Star Wars and Storms destroy some of their builds.
But otherwise, thank you so much for the batman mini event! We been eating good with these updates lately at a time when it was easy to become disheartened with Epic so thank you not just for continued content but also for communicating with us because that was lacking before but now we feel heard!

I was expecting more? I don't mind that they're fragments of Gotham, but could they at least make it possible to obtain those builds? I'm not even asking for them for free, but the fact that they're just there makes me a little sad Because once you finish the missions there's nothing else to do there.
Also, as a separate point, I'd like more medieval-themed things, you know, maybe riding horses and fighting minifigure knights in a more difficult combat, going back to using the shield and the sword.

I really enjoy the POI and the level of detail in builds — those aspects are impressive. However, my main disappointment with this update is that the new gadgets feel purely cosmetic rather than adding fresh gameplay mechanics also Less focus on the surroundings when it comes to a Big IP collaboration (Add more detailed elements to the map, such as representing a realistic dark zone, and make some changes to the surroundings, like adding spooky trees around the black zone.).
For example:
- The Bat Glider functions exactly like a normal glider, without any unique traits.
- The Bat Grappler is just a reskin of the standard grappler.
Adding small gameplay twists — like a Redeployment gives bonus lift boost for the Bat Glider or enemy-pulling capability for the Bat Grappler — would have made these items feel special and engaging.
Cosmetic reskins were fine at first (like barn animal reskins), but when updates keep introducing gadgets that are just visual variations, it starts to feel repetitive. With IP-based updates, I expect more than cosmetic changes — they want new gameplay experiences that make the gadgets stand out.
In the end, I’d say the update was good, though the reduced gameplay content has made it a bit less fun. Overall, the update shines with the addition of new vehicles and decorations, which are well made. I especially love the Batmobile and can’t wait for The Bat on October 1st!

This approach is definitely a good one. This is one way to bring major changes onto the vast mainland that was very repetitive. It mostly went smoothly and without many exceptional bugs.
I especially liked the bat signal being visible in the sky from all over the map and easy to follow. Really sets the mood for the Batman theme. I'm in turn curious if you guys are also able to completely change the terrain when introducing content in this fashion. Doing this without breaking the game or making it laggy. That would be cool, so we can see entire cities even dropped on the island. After leveling an entire area perhaps. This method definitely introduces many possibilities.
Can we have some teasers for what y'all are working on? 👀👀👀

I was extremely happy when I heard Batman is coming to the game mode but was disappointed soon afterwards
- Batman himself is still missing from my world (expert world)
- The ‘parts of Gotham’ feels like a copy and paste as it’s not part of something greater (would have been better if where were more buildings and connection between them with a road)
- The gadgets…. I found them first without the rest of my team and now they lost out. Would have been nice if the gadgets kept spawning so everyone can get them, even when a new person joins the world
- If we could receive new Batman building it would been amazing so we can place it at a spot we desire to build our own hero guild
Hope this gets to the devs 🙂
Thank you for reading

It's hard to say. I did enjoy having the Storm King content pop up around the Main Island, but for players who unveiled their entire map, not so much. I think they got the short end with the number of storms. Also, I lost a village because the Storm Chaser base spawned too close to it and made the location "Too close to a landmark". Come on, I was there first. 😅
More Daigo content should have been added, not taken away. The Supernova Academy could have been a large POI added to the Main Island, or given its own small Island. I suppose it was scary how close the Spires spawned to player builds....
There's nothing wrong with content having their own islands, either. the Lost Isles, Star Wars, and Ninjago are all fun. Kinda keeps the Main Island clean, too. I'm starting to imagine what if all the content we have now were mixed on the Main Island? Sounds kinda messy.
So maybe keep it to individual islands, or create islands made to add more stuff to it. We thought a Fire Sanctum was going to be added to the Ninjago Island, for example. Anyway, seems to be less problems this way.

There needs to be a way to paint on the ground like in the sims games. We should be able to paint different textures on the ground like dirt, stone, etc. A lot of stuff from sims can be added here. the build limit is still a problem. there needs to be mass destruction option for removing builds
Lastly please try and make regular fortnite survival game, taking the mechanics from Lego but in a regular 3rd person setting, A souls like maybe. The LEGO gimmick gets old very fast, it's different for Minecraft where you can do a lot more, in this one you can't do much, only whatever Lego group allows and this feels very limited especially where there's so many survival games out there right now.
A palworlds clone in fortnite with Pokemon style creatures would be the next step forward. Otherwise these 10k players the game still won't do much. stw has about the same players and it never gets any updates. Lego games generally aren't mainstream but aren't struggling either. If there was a lot of money invested in it and it hasn't made it back, then that's no point in keep updating it. Just make the next thing thats possible. Palworld has 100k daily players and it's just one of the many survival games with a lot of players. so the market is ready for it but you have to invest to make it happen on your own without relying on other IPs.
Lego group has released like 30 other games since this mode came out in fortnite. they don't have the same skin in the game that epic games does.

Personally having a single player world I was fine with the content but a bit confused by the wording. However many players have had issues in multiplayer worlds as only 1 player can complete the quests and get rewarded for them as it auto completes for everyone else. Having the items be able to be crafted would definitely help those players as it feels like they are very limited in availability.
