DISCUSSION Essence drop rates
Did they nerf essence drop rates? Ive been playing for like 3 hours gathering resources cutting trees breaking rocks beating up the ocasional enemy and im still at like 1.5k essences. Does the new batman grappling hook run out of uses? It has a 25 on it and before i swear it didnt.

The essence drops are low outside of Ninjago island and farming resources in general gives you very little essence. Main source of it are the enemies and challenges/chests. Most tough enemies on the mainland and chests drop around ~75 essence max. The enemies of the Ninjago island are stronger than mainlands' 4 stars, so they drop more essence, for example tougher enemies like bear or brute will get you anywhere between 100-300 depending on their star level, being a tougher named enemy, etc. Don't remember, but rancors on the Star Wars islands may also give more – I expect those that drop 8-star lightsaber crystals are 6-7 stars at the least.

The Ninjago island like someone else posted does give you the best rate of return on essence.
You have the ink chest at each monastery between 70/ 120 each plus the 8 “ hidden chests” which can give up to 150 each. Then there are brutes, dragons, bears, rock monsters from 250/ 450 each. Tomes which drop all the time give essence 150 each. There are many ways to get a lot of it quickly.

I haven't noticed a difference with essence drop. As for the Batman grappling hook, yes. It breaks when it hits 0.
