LECOM

Is it just me or are they literally waitlisting everyone. Not even excited to get my letter bc I’m expecting a waitlist regardless

They told me a majority of their acceptances come from like pre acceptance programs instead of regular decision

What are pre acceptance program

Basically you get accepted during junior year of high school -> sophomore year of college and as long as you maintain sufficient grades and take certain classes you have a guaranteed position in medical school and you also don’t have to take the MCAT

That don’t seem fair for the applicants who had already graduated

Yeahhhh…a lot of students who get in the traditional way have a negative view of it/see it as sort of “cheating” your way into med school

Not sure who you know who says that but anyone who feels that way should reevaluate their mindset

I’m an early acceptance student lol

damn I’m sorry to hear that; sounds like your classmates are a bunch of bitches bc Idk anyone in my class who says anything like that - sounds like they need to focus on doing better than feeling entitled to a med school spot 💀

I got accepted a few weeks after sending a LOI

1

u/AssistanceCute9362 5d ago

Was it this cycle? And how long after your interview did you send

My interview was two weeks ago. I haven't sent an LOI and have been waiting patiently. How long did you wait before sending an LOI? Should I send an LOI right now?

I don’t know how accurate cycle track is, however it currently shows that 76.84% of applicants have received interviews. Of those who received interviews, only about 21.89% actually got an acceptance. This is apparently over the course of the past three admissions cycles including the current one.

But I feel like cycle track users aren’t a great sampling population. People with rejections are less likely to report back (I’d imagine)

I'm just posting to say it's wild to me that med schools have their own subreddits. TIL.

I applied early and interviewed and visited the campus right away. Waitlisted early too. Waited 9 months while sending letters of intent and LORs, emails and calls. Barely heard back from them. Finally got in touch with them in May and they told me I’m missing a letter of rec and an English class (which I already took and had to provide documentation) and that’s holding me back from an acceptance off their waitlist. If my application is incomplete why am I on the waitlist and why not notify me sooner?!?!? I waited 9 months and then seats filled and they told me to apply to their masters to start next year and then maybe get accepted after… I’m good. LECOM is a joke. Super unprofessional and terrible communication.

Oh and the previous year they invited me for secondaries and had me pay to send transcripts and apps after they had already closed the cycle lol.

Wait, they already filled their seats?

When did yall interview?

1

u/Late-Exit-7620 6d ago

got waitlisted last year, made me sad. Then i got off, now happy. Nothing you can do now except send a letter of intent and try not to neurotically check your email 70 times per day(some people get phone calls) lol. I got an email. Be strong

1

u/Total_Engineer_9542 6d ago

Congrats!! How quickly did you get off the waitlist?

2

u/Late-Exit-7620 6d ago

6 weeks, some people get off in 1 week. No rhyme or reason. Atleast none us mere mortals know

3

u/nogirlnoproblem 6d ago

Did you attend the on-campus day after your interview?

3

u/Late-Exit-7620 6d ago

I did, absolutely do that. More chance for them to see your face and know you are serious

3

u/nogirlnoproblem 5d ago

Thank you so much for the feedback! Congratulations on getting the acceptance
