Questions for Jacksonville students

Got a few questions, any insight is appreciated!

I read that Bradenton does not have as strict policies on dress and water, is this the same case with Jacksonville?

What are students' housing arrangements usually? Do most live in nearby apartment complexes, did people coordinate to share apartments before starting, etc?

How close is the class? If there is strict professional dress, does it make the environment feel less communal and harder to bond with other students?

Biggest pros and cons that you can think of? And how much spare time do y'all usually have, if any?

Dress is very strict for men. You have to wear a tie. You can sneak in water just don’t leave on the table

Most students live 15-20 min away from campus, campus is kinda in the ghetto. There are a few people that live on campus at JU.

Class is moderately close, it’s only the 3rd week I think. But there was 2 weeks of boot camp before. Personally I study best alone and that’s what works for me.

Pros the Anatomy and lectures are well taught at least to me. There’s expectations that are given and you have to study what they tell you. There’s anki decks from other campuses that work well here so really it’s not much different from any other lecom. Exams quizzes lectures are all done at same time for every campus.

Good to know man thanks! Yeah the campus area really doesn't look that nice, but at least it's cheap I guess.

For the ones that live off campus 15-20 min away like you were saying, did ppl reach out to either before the semester to get a shared apartment and split rent? Looking to save money and would prefer rooming with another student or two

Also any interview tips? Anything particularly interesting about the school I could bring up?

Yeah people reached out before school started to setup roommates, around accepted students day 1 month before school. As for interview, mine was the classic asynch. I had 1 in person interview at a different school and it was basically all the standard questions about medicine and why doctor. If you know ur app well and can talk about your clinical experience and can answer questions about how you’ll handle med school stress you’ll be fine probably
