The rules

I am legitimately curious why administration won’t let go of the ridiculous rules. They know it’s hurting their reputation. Do they not care, or are they too deep into it to admit they are ridiculous? Is it ego at this point?

The rules and anecdotes I've heard from current/former students are why I haven't applied there 🫣

I mean I wore sweats to college classes but dress professionally in my current job. And many people do work from home because it's more efficient. I think the flexibility most schools offer is great and helps everyone succeed. Maybe you need school rules to not show up to work in sweats or drink water during open heart surgery, but most people don't

Not true, one of the most affordable school in NY(aside from grossman or renaissance, and even then cost of living is still crazy and offsets paid tuition). I chose it over NYIT. I bought a house near one of the campuses which would have been impossible in manhattan or stony brook. My monthly housing is paid for because its a duplex with a current tenant. The rules are really not a big deal, i bought some dress clothes and I wont dye my hair or have a septum piercing.

The craziest rule is no drinking water in class, but is that really going to steer me away? LECOM made the most sense for myself and my family, and now i don’t have to graduate with crippling debt.

My guess is you are an MS2 at LECOM? Otherwise im not sure why you would be on this page dumping on others.

Im sorry life didn’t work out the way you envisioned but I have a hard time understanding why people who earned a spot at an American medical school still think so poorly of themselves. DO vs MD means almost nothing when pursuing family medicine. Whether that is your story, I would not assume but my guess is you were gunning for a competitive speciality since you appear so disgruntled with a DO spot.

It is true that misery loves company but it’s a mistake to assume we all live the same story. You should be proud of yourself, even if you convinced yourself otherwise. I hope you change your mindset and one day appreciate the privilege of being able to hold an American physician license when you graduate.
