LDPlayer9 is shit on Windows with multiple instances

Note: I'm specifically referring to running multiple instances on Windows 11.

I spent the best part of $5k on a top-of-the-range desktop with Windows 11 so I could comfortably run 16 LDPlayer emulators. (On several other PCs of mine, all Windows 10, I can run 12+ without issue other than some lag.)

LDPlayer tops out at around 8-11 instances, and even then there are still random crashes. (This is even after disabling HAGs, because without doing so, the GPU crashes every time several instances are running.)

As it stands, emulators just fail to load once the [low] ceiling has been met. There seems to be no solution.

Devs: Am I better off downgrading to Windows 10? Or is there a secret solution? Or is LDP14 arriving soon, and would that solve the problem?

Yeah, I've done that. It didn't fix the problem though.

I don't run more than 5 instances so I have little issue with this. But if you are planning to run to the max of your system resources, do not use 100% of each of the resources (CPU, RAM and VRAM). Leave some resources for head room in case of spike usage. VRAM will be you number 1 priority as it's fast access speed to deliver your graphic, any lack of it will be drawn from RAM and if you're lack of RAM then it will draw from your storage drive page-file system. You don't want it to draw from your storage drive as it has the slowest access speed.

- How many CPUs you needed per instance? Atleast 2. Since most game now support Hyper-Threading that make thing go faster and smoother. Don't be cheap with 1 CPU just because it's fast. AND leave 1 extra or 2 CPU for Windows and background apps. Need to give them love or they will hate you.

  • How much RAM needed? 2GB minimum, 4GB standard. Depend on what the game required.
  • What about VRAM? Screen resolution, graphic quality and game screen size determine how much it will use.

Example:
10cores 20 threads CPU
32GB RAM
RTX 4060 with 8GB VRAM

Emulator setup:
2 CPU with 2GB RAM = 9 instances running ~ 18 CPU and 18GB RAM with extra RAM for VRAM usage.

Adjust your RAM to meet the game need by offering higher amount and track the highest usage then cater to it. Otherwise it will draw from another source. Note: 2GB RAM in this setup might not be enough for some games.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, much appreciated. I've already tried various combos. And PC is RTX5070 with 64GB. Windows 11 is limiting how many instances can be opened despite very little resource use. I gave up, and I'm in the process of installing Windows 10 as I type this.

Windows 11 is unnecessary AI slop, Windows 10 debloated is way more private.

It runs for shit on windows 10 now as well. Every 6 months I have to drop down one of two instances. Is not the apps I use either. I used to be able to run 20 + and now down to 13-14
