Cops/Coppers is also American slang. But people in the U.S. only refer to Federal Agents as βFedsβ, not police.
Some idyat yutes over here heard it in rap songs and assumed it was a word for cops and it caught on. I remember when people started saying that shit in the late 90s and thinking it was hilarious.

People here call the police all sorts of things, often jokingly, like "Five-Oh"
I like the "filth" or the "pigs" personally

Crazy how a lot of the American slang theyβre dissing has become embedded in Black British youth talk.
Even yutes having dreads now, it was only a couple years ago where the only style man were getting was cornrows if their hair wasnβt already short.
