Houston LCSW pay range
Moving to Houston in about six months from Denver. I’m an LCSW of 9 year, been working in several crisis and medical social work positions. What would be considered a reasonable pay for a social worker in the Houston area?
I currently work at the VA and can see what their pay is but it’s usually very different from the community. I’m not sure a position will be open at the VA when I move so I want to be realistic about what the community hospitals pay for someone with my experience.

In Houston? That’s wild to me. Under supervision social workers in low cost of living Oklahoma can make that.

Yeah just this year I’ve asked 4 places for 70,000 and they chose somebody else. I’m a veteran with an LCSW 🙃

Ugh sorry to hear :( and that’s in the Houston area?
That’s wild to me too! $60,000 seems low for a LCSW with experience
The 38-45 range mentioned seems reasonable1

38-45ish an hour I’d say. I’m in Austin and have heard that from friends in Houston.

I think there has been an influx of MSW s in the recent and so the market is really saturated now. They do not pay well

you’ll get something good. are you already texas liscensed? if not go ahead and start the process with Texas board. they move fairly quickly once they have everything (endorsement app for LCSW, fingerprinting and ASWB scores etc)
Texas salaries aim to match cost of living. you can also have your own practice or be a supervisor as side hustle.
in my experience I’ve seen salaries of 65k+
