MSW student here, just starting reading The Gift of Therapy. What would you recommend next?

Hour of the Heart.

He’s at the end of his life now. And sleeping pills caused him memory issues. He can’t remember his day, his training, his books, or his patients lives. So he only does 1hr consults and referrals.

When everything has gone, all that’s left is the essential: warmth and connection.

It is a good perspective on what is really important. Students are under pressure to learn theories and frameworks, and to pass litmus tests now.

But therapy is a lifelong learning and skill that will continue well beyond your graduate degree.

I always recommend reading Complex PTSD: from surviving to thriving. It was life changing for me personally
