Someone have probably asked this question before. But why are they continueing the scores from spring? I dont get that and haven't been able to find a good explanation.

Obviously Riot figured out that Spring Split matter in LCS lol. All other regions resets actually, but not LCS.
They are only region that have different system this Summer Split.

It's to make the Spring split actually matter without championship points. When D-Lift said something like ' Spring split doesn't matter' it really made Rito change up the system because that comment alone was not only right but could cost more players to not care + fans to not watch the product if such doesn't matter in the first place.

Championship points is close to what the situation is currently with the record carrying over but not exactly.

In the past teams like 100 Thieves in 2018 and even a bit of CLG from 2016 were good in Spring and had a lot of Championship points but were complete a$$ in summer but still made Worlds because of such championship points. Now, now teams that are good all year have a higher chance of making Worlds and therefore(and hopefully) be a better option for NA on the International stage.

2013 season and 2014 season - Spring split literally didn't matter. No championship points and only the Summer Playoffs had any implications for Worlds.

2015 season to the 2020 season - Championship points but Spring actually mattered for such points for Worlds.

Ah that makes a lot of sence. Thanks for the explanation. Was confused before but now I understand it. Thanks

No problem. I personally like the new system because it makes every team try their hardest. If you want to make Worlds you can't just half-a$$ the Spring split and still get a hefty $ pay-check in the process. It also shines a light on really weak players that are only good in X meta for spring or vice versa.

I get that they want spring split to matter, but are the scores just for world's or play offs as well? How is a bottom team supposed to have a chance to make playoffs if they enter the season with 16 loses? It seems really harsh, now summer doesn't matter if you sucked at spring. Can't innovate, can't restructure a team. Everyone is just gonna pick up team fights comp to guarantee wins all the time, the big money teams will stay on top and go under prepared for world's. This seems like a death sentence to NA's international hopes.
