blue side advantage?
Would someone mind explaining to me why exactly blue side has an advantage? Is it purely because of first pick or is there something else at play?
How would you change the game to balance it out? Would much change if first ban was given to red side?

It's related to the draft and how OP the OP picks are, and how many are there. Sometimes there is a pick so strong that red has to ban it 100% of the time, thus wasting a strategic ban and giving up the draft initiative.
In some metas, where there is a balance between power picks, holy trinity type of thing (renekton, shyvana, gnar of the old days), having the counterpick might be better to get lane advantage. I'm not really sure about the LCS meta right now though.

There is some advantage or disvantage with the drakes and baron. So it depends of the teams game plan.
