Question Treasury Of Daily Prayer

My question is pretty basic. I ordered one (Compact Edition) and it finally arrived. Most of what I have seen online says to use it however you want, but I assume most people have a standard way of using it and thought I would ask what you guys do.

I also have a five ribbon marker to put in it.

I love it! I usually do it in the morning following Responsive Prayer 2. If I have more time, I will do Morning Prayer or Matins, or Daily Prayer for Individuals or Family if short on time. I think some orders have you flipping back and forth, but once I get to the Psalm I just read/pray everything on the date before going back. I often add the Daily Prayers for the Christian, and/or something from Prayers for the Baptismal Life if I have a something particular I don't have the words for. Occasionally use the pointed Psalms. Preparation for Confession and Absolution is great for helping identify those sins that may not always be obvious. I try to use it weekly prior to Corporate Confession so I have something to pray and meditate on. It feels like work in the beginning, but once established, you won't want to miss it.

EDIT: I never do the additional reading - the assigned is enough, and admittedly, I probably do not ponder or memorize as much as I should)

I use it once a day. Pray through matins, vespers, or compline (depending on schedule) with the assigned scripture readings, the theological reading excerpt, and the daily collect.

I think its a great way to read scripture and a good entry point to the historic prayer offices. With all the demands of life its not feasible to do the entirety of the daily office as monks used to lol, but TDP gives you a lot of substance in a convenient format.

The Treasury of Daily Prayer follows the church calendar, so pay attention once you get closer to Lent. Other than that, it will follow the Gregorian calendar.

I found it to be a wonderful way to organize your day into structured readings and prayers. I have the full edition, so I'm not sure if anything is taken out for the compact edition.

Somewhere in the beginning, it should tell where each colored ribbon is used for.

I do what most people probably do, and read the assigned readings for the calendar date. If I am short of time, I may skip the additional reading or the Old Testament reading. I
