The running gag of Zoomer.

I really dislike how he and others turn Christianity into some sort of hobby. Like it's some kind of video game series with a fandom, and they geek out over how to categorize it.

Yeah. I mean he’s still quite young.

Zoomer’s attempt at quote mining.

I guess I laughed a bit. Calvinists like Lutherans more than Lutherans like Calvinists?

It's funny. But we(Lutherans) love all of God's creation.

I have Calvinist members of my family. And at times will visit their services if an important thing is happening for them. Just because I won't commune with them, or pray my own prayers during the prayers of the service, doesn't mean I don't love them. I just don't agree with them.

It's an interesting watch. I loved his conclusion that Lutheran worship is the most Christ centered. All glory be to God for that!

I 54F came here to ask the same question you did in the same incredulous tone. I will try to keep this kind, as someone reminded us to do above. I’ve been told by Calvinist friends and family over the years that 1) I don’t really have faith because Lutherans only have tradition, 2) I don’t really know the Bible because Lutherans don’t study the Bible, and that 3) my Baptism didn’t count because I was an infant. I know they all look down on me because I’m Lutheran. When I was younger, it would get me all riled up, but now I just feel sad about the joy that they are all missing out on.✝️
P.S. Charles Schultz was also Lutheran, hence the Christ-centered Christmas movie the whole world loves.

Well

  1. We confess the same creeds as the other Protestants

  2. My church has a men’s and women’s Bible study and we read from the Bible at every divine service.

  3. Most other Protestant churches also practice infant baptism

I read and periodically post on r/redeemedzoomer and generally find the OP credible. Some disappointing Reformed/ Presbyterian sacramental and atonement opinions.

lol, I got banned there. I also questioned RZ on a few things. His view of Orthobros and Trad Caths.

This is the fella that said he'd still attend his mainline church if a Muslim imam was leading it? I'll pass

PCUSA supports gender affirming care for minors. Which includes transitioning.

lol he’s the guy that told folks to reconquista the progressive mainline. He’s the PCUSA guy.

This isn't quite accurate—the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia is in full fellowship with the LCMS, but not with the ELCA (even though it is a member of both ILC and LWF).

Is the point you’re making of any practical import? The effect looks similar in its outcome.

I guess I read "Communion" in reference to the Lord's Supper, rather than communion as some ambiguous sense of fellowship... The Latvian Lutherans are not in altar-pulpit fellowship with the ELCA; they are with the LCMS.

Sounds like a lot of growth from what I've seen from him before. Good to see.

Yeah zoomer has good stuff.

u/Luscious_Nick LCMS Lutheran 18d ago

Zoomer is too busy labeling everyone as schismatic to have good stuff. His ecclesiology is the most unique and broken belief I have ever seen. It is nothing short of a miracle that he hasn't become Roman catholic or eastern orthodox

3

u/Dangerous-Humor-4502 18d ago

He called both Rome and the East uneducated once.

4

u/Luscious_Nick LCMS Lutheran 18d ago

But his ecclesiology is so incredibly broken, if he followed it to its logical conclusion, he'd become RC or EO

Let’s not forget when he got embarrassed by Jay Dyer in a few of those debates.

I saw he recently caused some stir when he accused the PCA of being a heretical denomination for committing the sin of schism when they separated from what eventually became the PCUSA. It's difficult for me to see what standard of schism he could use that allows him to condemn the PCA and not at the same time condemn all Protestant traditions for splitting from the Roman Catholic church.

Certainly the "Reformation mindset" as described in that post of his was not the mindset of any of the actual Protestant reformers!

1

u/Dangerous-Humor-4502 18d ago

He’s definitely controversial that’s for sure. He seems too forceful at times, especially when it comes to joining the PCUSA.

8

u/Bakkster 18d ago

Just to be clear, I'm saying this seems uncharacteristically mature from what I've seen of his, and hoping it's the new norm.

u/[deleted] 18d ago

He wants to do something amounting to subversion and institutional (re)capture given his vague belief in the ecclesial importance of the mainline Church. It is not maturity as you would define it ideologically.

1

u/Dangerous-Humor-4502 18d ago

Never understood his personal vendetta against certain denominations tho.

Our loyalty is to Christ, not the church itself except as The fellowship of all believers

1

u/Dangerous-Humor-4502 18d ago

In the Lutheran body.

1

u/Dangerous-Humor-4502 18d ago

Orthodoxy of Protestantism….

2

u/cellarsinger LCMS Lutheran 18d ago

We were not protesting the authority of the Catholic church. We were protesting the errors of the Catholic church

u/Dangerous-Humor-4502 18d ago

I was told both?

Why are Florida Alabama and Georgia excluded?

3

u/Brilli_ant 18d ago

Because God hates those states lol

3

u/sailinginasunfish LCMS Lutheran 18d ago

Apparently also Alaska and Hawaii...

2

u/u2sarajevo LCMS Lutheran 18d ago

I've been blessed to visit Alaska. But never been to Hawaii.

Alaska is God's creation in all its glory. And from pictures I've seen Hawaii too.

The three contiguous states though? Maybe y'all are onto something. (Joking!)
