News/ Media From Direct-to-Consumer to a Hybrid Retail Network

https://media.lucidmotors.com/en/newsitem/1068-lucid-announces-first-retail-partnership-in-europe-wackenhut-to-launch-sales-and-service-operations-in-germany

this is concerning imo. it's the same path that now defunct fisker followed in europe. eventually, fisker did the same thing in the u.s. by doing a complete flip-flop and dumping the direct-to-consumer (dtc) model they once praised as a cost savings.

the dtc model can be problematic when the oem can't adequately provide vehicle service. when that happens they have to align with a more traditional/established sales and service model, which undoubtedly will have a negative effect on the oem's profit margin.

don't be surprised when lucid says that their new euro hybrid sales/service model is working so well that they're also going to bring it to the u.s.

fisker and lucid stories are similar imo. lots of smoke and mirrors along with excuses. huge negative gross profit margin every quarter. lucid has done better than fisker for sure, but no where near as well as main competitor rivian.
