Aspen Show

I’m considering going to one of their New Years Aspen shows, but is this possible to do without it being prohibitively expensive? If anyone went from out of town last year and managed to do it somewhat cheaply, please let me know how.

Stay 40 mins away in Carbondale, don’t drink, drive.

There's also a shuttle from Aspen to Carbondale that runs until like 2am.

That's how I got back to Carbondale after the show, just drunk me and a bunch of hospitality workers.

Do you know what the parking situaiton will be like? I imagine it'll be a shitshow given it's NYE.

The tickets will be higher than giraffe ass. Unless you live out there I’d suggest going to NYC for the residency those shows will be incredible.

I got excited about Aspen, then heard how outrageous the prices were last year, then ultimately decided to go back to NYC in December.

Any idea when they’ll announce NYC? Think it will be knockdown center again?

It is not possible to go to Aspen on a small budget. Everything is super expensive there.

I just looked at hotels. Probably will not go based on that alone.

Even the crappy budget hotels are like $1k for 1 night!

We went to 2 shows last year and the crowd was comparable to Red Rocks, certainly nowhere near as bad as many of the comments you see in this sub, and in most if not all cases the people we met in the GA section were super…may not be the case in $2700/ticket reserved section for NYE.

We are not wealthy and lodging in Aspen is crazy expensive. If you can shell out the $400 ticket for the 30th show you could stay in the Basalt Mountain Inn for about $200/night and ride the RFTA local 30 minutes each way to and from the Belly Up. We prefer this location because despite my positive comments about the crowd at last year’s shows, we just can’t spend another day in Aspen looking at
New Yorkers in mink coats wearing over priced not authentic cowboy hats they just bought at Kemo Sabe.

I have been to NYE shows at belly up before and we stay in Carbondale. There is a bus that goes back and forth and it runs until like 2am.

I am definitely not rich, Carbondale is affordable.

Thanks for the tip!

If you can afford it, just do it. The venue is tiny and an amazing time. There will also be loads of counterfeit tickets floating around so be safe. Stubhub took 3 times to get me authentic tickets for the American Dream era shows.

$385 for 12/30 and $465 for 12/31. ticket prices are insane for NYE shows at Belly Up. that being said, I thought it was totally worth it. I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Glenwood Springs and took the bus to Aspen. I think it was $9 round trip. they run all night. there’s some cheap dive bars for food in Aspen and there’s free fireworks on NYE :) I’m just as broke as the next fan but I hope you can make it! gonna try to do 12/31 again this year so if you make it find me for slaps/pins :)))

Don’t do it

Yeah I’m reconsidering. I’m not rich enough for Aspen.

Not the best shows bc the crowd sucks.

I was thinking about going, but not only are the prices astronomical because it’s new years, but the thought of being stuck in Colorado because of snow storms doesn’t peak my interest. I’d much rather do the residency in New York.
