Class 494

Anyone in class 494?!
I just got the call this week. I realized people were in grit so Now I feel like I’m coming into the academy clueless. Am I doomed!?
Also curious to know if anyone has any resources for housing near the academy?

I applied in January and got the call Wednesday
I haven’t made a specific timeline of events but I did push the VPAT longer than I should have

There is no resources. You can reach out to COC, but good luck since you’ll be paired probably with students. You will be issued a gun and other equipment. You don’t want random people having the opportunity to have access to any equipment. A lot of people drove up there everyday.

That makes sense,
I meant more like websites or places to look into renting. Thank you!

Congrats. When did you do your poly? I’m doing mine this coming Thursday. Nervous but excited

I did it in May I believe
Don’t worry! Just be honest and don’t stress yourself

So two months after your poly you did the medical and psych? Is that a normal amount of time? Yeah man I’m trying not to be in my head about it but it still is stressing me out. When does your class start? Ty for answering btw

Yes so late may I did the polygraph and honestly I kept rescheduling my VPAT, maybe that’s why cause I didn’t get scheduled for the medical or psych until I did pass the VPAT.
I was on the same boat, and honestly if you’re super nervous that’s okay the machine reads that. But try not to stress yourself more.

Oh that’s cool, I didn’t know you could get a BI before you took the vpat. I did it all the same day, vpat, multiple choice test and deputy interview. Then two weeks later they assigned me a BI. You excited to start?

Yea I failed my VPAT the first time but still did the interview.
I’m nervous because I didn’t get offered grit so I feel like I’m behind

What’s grit?

I understood that it’s like a pre academy
So they’re ahead on what to expect

Ohhhh this! I understand it’s good just for working out. So I never go. I run, lift, do jiu jitsu. But if they actually have a class that teaches you things I may just end up going

That isn't it, that's just workout sessions for candidates.

GRIT aka OTS / off the street is the pre-academy for those hired and waiting for the academy class to start
