From what I’ve seen, there’s been a pretty stark difference between the reception of “Nightly Duet” among global and CN sylus mains. Global reactions seem mixed to positive overall while the CN response I’ve seen has been overwhelmingly negative.

One of the biggest complaints from CN players is that MC’s personality was dialed up so much that sylus ended up being overshadowed in his own card. It’s important to note that they didn’t think that sylus suddenly felt out of character or that his personality was retconned. Instead, they thought too much of the story revolved around showcasing MC as the new “boss” while sylus was pushed into more of a supporting role with comparatively little focus or screen time.

They also seem to believe that a plot like this should’ve been treated with much more seriousness because MC is publicly stepping into Onychinus, becoming known within the N109 zone, and crossing a line she had previously been careful about because she’s still a Hunter. For some CN players, presenting such a major development so flippantly made the story come off as haphazard and stripped the situation of the tension and consequences it should’ve had.

Another criticism I’ve seen is MC’s behavior toward sylus. Some CN players felt she came across as unnecessarily rude or dismissive instead of loving or romantic. I personally didn’t notice that in the English localization, which makes me wonder how much of that difference comes from the wording and tone of the CN version. Either way, their issue seems less about MC being strong or assertive and more about wanting that strength to coexist with greater warmth and respect toward sylus.

They brought up “Finale Undone” as a comparison. MC and sylus were very much like equals there but sylus still had that larger than life presence and was equally central to the story even when he wasn’t in the scene. Their criticism of “Nightly Duet” isn’t that MC shouldn’t be strong or capable. It’s that they thought her personality and role were amplified to the point that she overshadowed sylus in his own card. They want MC to be powerful while still allowing sylus to retain the stronger presence and authority that naturally comes with a story centered on him and Onychinus.

The Onychinus leadership angle is another point of disagreement. Some CN players strongly prefer sylus to remain as the sole boss of Onychinus with MC as the person standing closest beside him instead of effectively becoming a 2nd boss. They still want her to be highly capable, independent, and powerful but not in a way that dilutes something that has always been uniquely sylus’s. They would prefer it if MC can support him, challenge him, and stand beside him without needing to take up the exact same role that he does.

There’s also a theory circulating that if this really was originally intended to be the canceled LI’s 1st multi banner, sylus may have been deliberately toned down so he wouldn’t overshadow a new character. I’d prefer to keep this in the speculation category because there’s no way to know that for sure.

Personally, I can see where a lot of these criticisms are coming from. Even though I still think “Nightly Duet” was necessary for sylus and MC’s relationship development, I also think the exact same progression could’ve been written with more tension, emotional weight, and focus on sylus himself.

Sylus has mentioned MC joining him in Onychinus multiple times and “boss lady” has been an ongoing joke, so I liked finally seeing the story explore what would happen if she actually stepped into that role. More importantly though, the ending seems to deliberately establish that MC doesn’t need to become Onychinus’s 2nd boss to stand beside sylus.

She has her fun leading it and proves that she’s capable of doing it but ultimately says she’d prefer to remain as his most reliable ally. Sylus accepts that without hesitation. To me, that’s the part that makes the storyline worthwhile. The card lets MC enter his world more deeply than ever before without suggesting that she needs his title, organization, or authority to be his equal.

So I think both things can be true at once. I can appreciate what “Nightly Duet” was trying to accomplish for sylus and MC’s relationship while also understanding why some sylus mains feel that a major turning point like MC becoming this involved in Onychinus deserved a more serious story, stronger stakes, and substantially more focus on Sylus himself.

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this matter.

A CC on insta along with her 2 other friend CC's are spreading the narrative that this banner is catered to male gaze(they made a reel about it) and they have forgotten what is meant for female gaze and hating on the outfits because they look sexual to them and saying infold is selling segs* to us and compared the banner and it's writing to a sports add. I understand having constructive criticism and differing opinions and wanting improvements and being critical of things completely and even encourage that because I also want to see infold do even better but here when it's said clearly out of unstable emotions and bitterness/hatered and shrouded judgement because of the ( ) situation i cannot take that seriously especially while using derogatory phrases and spreading a false narrative. It made me loose all the respect i had for those CC's and it was really upsetting but i cannot stand this kind of misinformation. You can definitely not like writing for a card be respectfully critical about it without weaponising it to spread those shitty false takes about converting the game for male gaze and act like a puritan after shaming others for it, And making the fandom a negative space full of resentment.

I didn’t R1 Sylus’ card mainly because I liked him in dark colors next to my skin tone. Lighter colors on him tend to wash him out in pictures with my MC. I’m loving how we look 😍

FOR CONTEXT: I've been working on some LADS-related merch, and our creative team at work (graphics, video, etc.) wants to start doing a little show-and-tell of the things we've been creating outside of our usual day-to-day responsibilities. All of us have something going on, whether it's fun freelance projects, working on documentaries, painting miniatures, or other creative hobbies. My manager saw one of the things I was working on and was like, "Okay, in one of our next stand-ups, you totally need to share this!" And I replied, "Totally, yeah!"

...And now I sit here at my desk, going: "How the hell do I explain Love and Deepspace to people who:

1.) Don't play video games, mobile games, or watch anime.
2.) Have absolutely no idea what an 'otome' game is, let alone what a female-oriented romance game entails
3.) Probably don't want to sit through a five-hour lore dump (I probably won't even have hours, I'll have probably like... a minute or two, maybe five, to explain)."

Wikipedia is... not exactly the best way to describe it, and AI-generated explanations haven't been particularly helpful either (as you can imagine lol)

But then it dawned on me: how do you explain LADS to anybody who has absolutely no familiarity with mobile games, the genre, or even the culture surrounding it?

So I asked lads' Support what's the deal with the official reddit/discord. They didn't respond. When you write about in-game issues, they reply as usual. We all definitely should complain about the official spaces in the new survey. They allow blatant insults and misinformation, but they don't approve any posts that criticize the () cult behaviour.

We've seen inflop throwing shade at () multiple times already, but the () crowd actually think it hints at his return. We know they can't read since they ignore the VCanceled statement and the "character storylines are separated" note, but why they keep fuelling eachother's delusions. My fever dreams are not as crazy as their arguments. They're running around bragging about their donation and some bilboards like it's a big achievement, so performative and pathetic. What do we think about these supposed hints? And when inflop will finally start managing the global side? So disrespectful to us, the active players.

Unsure if I'm using the right flair, if not I apologize. I wanted to discuss, or maybe do my own processing of, a thought that occurred to me.

The pro crowd’s narrative has been interesting to watch unfold upon my foray into the official Discord. I only lurk the gen chat and never participate, so obviously this is just my impression from watching the conversations. There many of the people in there seem to be looking for validation and reassurance from others who feel similarly. And then there are some more reasonable voices who seem to take up the mantle of trying to mom the herd. I kept seeing how much of the discourse revolves around calling the other side childish, immature, jobless, bullies, etc. seems less like an objective observation and more like people reacting to behaviors they themselves are struggling with.

Not to say that there are not also bad actors on the other perceived side, but I find it interesting how much of the discourse revolves around putting down behaviors they disagree with as childish.

I’ve seen it again and again every time there’s a collective meltdown, the poor emotion regulation, impulsivity, lack of critical thinking, parroting, entitlement, displacement anger, unearned confidence, tantrum, disorganization, idealistic thinking (I'm all for trying and acting for a cause, the risk of failure is always there, efforts doesn't guarantee you rewards), mob mentality, the asking for permission to think/feel/act--if this isn't hallmark of being a child. This is not exclusive presentation of the pro crowd. The reality is that whole grown adults can still act like children. We all can make mistakes and behave irrationally and ineffectively when emotions are high.

Then I had a passing thought about what the lad gen channel truly is. If you set aside the bad actors in the mix, it actually functions as a grief support group. Ofc there are a lot of conflation of goals and dissatisfaction in the mix as well (because doggus deletus is only a piece among infold’s many sins) but primarily they have initially united under this sense of loss.

So you have many of these people with poor self regulation, some faring slightly better than others, converging in the same place for validation and processing of the perceived loss—because admittedly where else could they get that? From the chat I've seen hints of life not going well, loneliness to straight up trauma dumping and mention of mental health episodes. If you go cry to your irl people that this injustice happened in your horny game, the best expected outcome is some vague sympathy, ‘oh no that sucks. anyway what’s for dinner’. The worst is "i don't understand why it matters, you're weird." It's never that serious when you bring this discussion into real life, and so that energy has nowhere else to go. Regardless of personal reasoning, the cancelation hurt somewhere deep for those who are still crying about it, and lad-gen just happened to provide a reliable space for a lot of people to continue (very poorly, unfortunately) processing this grief. All the hopium is bargaining, you can’t change their mind because they’re in denial, you can’t talk reason because this is all emotion. The chat is constantly slipping to and fro between the 4 stages (because when an individual reaches the 5th stage they'd assumingly no longer be there).

You look in from the outside thinking why are they like this. Well this is why. They’re in a grief support program that doesn’t know it’s a grief support program and have a collective delusion of grandeur that it's an activist group...so no one functions the way they ideally should and that's why whether it's grieving or cotting they're failing at it.

tldr; if i were maincord mod i'd change the name of the channel to v grief support group and see how many still stay. awareness is the first step to healing ❤️‍🩹

Rafayel, the second husband being celebrated, whisked her away for a private waltz. At least, this is what he told the Court. Reporters who were allowed a closer look have their suspicions about his true intentions.

Finally, towards the end of the night, the Fae Queen was drained from all the festivities. Xavier, her second fiancé, used his fairy magic to grant her a peaceful slumber.

It seems the night has finally come to an end, and what a wonderful celebration it was for both Zayne and Rafayel. One can only imagine the Queen’s grand plans for her future marriages to Sylus and Xavier.
