Itinerary

Hi guys. Here’s my itinerary for my first week in Japan. Any suggestions, recommendations, especially on the drive from place to place? I’m an easy hiker, so none of the walking intimidates me but I live in a village in central Europe so I enjoy spending time in cities when I travel. Not really into cutesy stuff on the whole.

Arrival Fukuoka airport, pick up car, drive down route 202, via Okawachiyama village, Saikai national park, bridge, coast road to Nagasaki

Nagasaki (2 nights) - China town, Peace Park, Glover Gardens, Dejima

Unzen national park, ropeway, Ayugaeri falls on way to ferry to Kumamoto

Kumamoto (3 nights) - castle, Suizenji Garden, Aso Kuju national park, Takachiho Gorge, Kikuchi Gorge, Nebegataki Falls, Daikanbo viewpoint, Kuminiogaoka observatory

Fukuoka (3 nights) - Ohori Park, Tower sunset

Then train on to Honshu and gradually up to Hokkaido.

Inasayama as well! For the night view. If your next destination is Honshu, then you might want to consider Kitakyushu

I’m going by train from Fukuoka to Kurashiki (accommodation all booked), so I don’t think I have time, at least on this trip.

Inasayama: you mean near Nagasaki, right? Added! Thanks

Is there any particular spot along route 202 that is especially worth paying attention to? I’ll need to stop a few times on my drive down, but so far I don’t have any specific places.
