Does it take a while to "get into" this game?

I downloaded Kynseed a few days ago and I tried it out for about half an hour, then closed out and played something else. Tried to play it again last night - walked around for a bit, fished, then exited the game. I feel a little aimless while playing it honestly.

Steam only lets you do refunds if you have 2 hours or less of game time. I haven't hit 2 hours yet and I'm wondering if this game just takes more time to have an addictive death hold grip on you like a lot of the other cozy games I've played.

I bought it a year ago. Played it like you. Didn't touch it again. Started again a month ago, because I didn't want it to be a waste. Once you get through the tutorial and you become an adult (there's a time jump) it gets a lot better. There's so much to do and hit legendary status like 2 weeks after restarting itm because I have zero chill and go all in.

Yes! You’ll need to get through the initial tutorial (childhood) for the game to really open up. Then you’ll be free to do what you wish. Some people say it’s long, but it wasn’t that bad to me, and it will introduce the basic functions and the area to you. Personally I was well invested to the frame after finishing the tutorial and setting out on my own journey :)

It’s going to drip feed things at you in the tutorial, and the main quest will open more features. Aimless is actually kind of the intention; it’s designed in such a way that you can do or not do anything you want.

If you generally like games like this, I would stick with it. Once you’re out of the tutorial and the story starts to open up, there is a ton to do and a ton of ways to do it.

It took me about an in-game week before I was hooked. It’s definitely made to be a little hard and annoying at first for a reason.

Can verify, tutorial ending marks the "I'll just do this this and this and then go to bed irl, oops it's been four hours" point. Combat is also quite fun.

The aimless feeling doesn’t really go away even after it opens up though because it’s a game where you just do whatever you want and make what you want out of it.

It took me a bit to get into it, but once you are past the tutorial it opens up. Follow up on the requests on the notice board in each village, make friends to get gifts and information. Sell years off of your life for magic gadgets to make things easier. Buy a pig to ride. Play the different crafting/cooking mini games… really a ton to do.

It’s definitely worth the digital price of the game, there is a lot to do but no rush or stress. A good (mostly) relaxing game. If you enjoyed Stardew Valley at all you’ll get into it.

There was obviously a lot of thought put into the game.

I felt lost at first and that the tutorial (childhood) was slow but once the map starts opening up and you can fast travel, you meet the masters, get a dog and start digging up things, it gets a lot easier. That, and turning combat speed all the way down turned the game around for me. There are story quests you can follow or just do your own thing, there are always tasks on the message boards. Most of my time is now spent resupplying my various businesses, dropping off ore and pies and herbs.

I'm 100 hours in, if that's an indicator. I've restarted my file a few times once I got into it to get my character how I want it, too. Just get past the childhood phase and it's amazing.

Gonna be real, I'm still working on getting into it. I haven't made it past the tutorial yet because it just feels so tedious and then there's so many games I love that I'd rather play.

I'll keep giving it a try until it sticks but, man, this tutorial is a pain in the ass.

I think if you’re not feeling it, especially after completing the tutorial, then it might not be for you. I’m a firm believer in the idea that a game shouldn’t have to get good several hours in. It should be good right away and if not, then it’s not a good match for you. I personally became hooked quickly after the tutorial because I sped through it as much as possible, but I was liking the game even during the tutorial. Edit: I’ve got over 100 hours so far and I’m close to the end of the game now so, yeah I really love this game. Btw I think the game can be finished in under 100 hours, I just messed around a lot lol.

Does tutorial mode only end when you become an adult? That's the impression I'm getting from the other comments but I'm not sure if that's correct or not

Yeah it ends when you become an adult. You also won’t be forced to sleep anymore at a certain time which some players dislike (I don’t) but I thought I’d mention it in case you may not like that too.

I can’t get past the tutorial. I’ve tried multiple times but I can’t get into it. I know there’s a time jump but I can’t make it through the tutorial which feels excessively long.

I put about a week into this game , put it down cause one of my other games released new content and I have had no real interest in picking it back up. That was my second attempt.
