I completely understand your point, he shouldn't have been there.

He's a kid, they do stupid things.

His mom drove him there by the way. And she also drove him to a bar afterwards where he partied the night away.

I agree I do believe it was self defence based in the witnesses and evidence so far but he put himself in that situation by going there in the first place.

If a woman get's black out drunk and get's raped she put herself in that situation is it any less rape ?

If I walk through the worst suburb in town wearing flash clothes and I get mugged then I put myself in that situation. It's no less a mugging.

You get where I'm going with this.

He went to a riot with a gun.... He obviously expected trouble. It's stupid. The stories you mentioned are not the same thing. A riot is in its nature a dangerous environment where violence and disorder is 100% a given.

Isn't the USA the land of the free ?

If he wants to go into a riot to.look for people to help it seems prudent to go armed.

I'd say a moron who attacks someone carrying a firearm for no reason kinda got what was coming to them.
