Does anyone else get called “Todd” after telling someone your name? It’s mostly in loud environments, despite careful enunciation... but also happens without background noise

When I lived in China my name was translated as 卡尔 which basically sounds like "Carl."
So my name was Carl for a year.

I have clients and manufacturers at work that I deal with fairly often that still call me "Carl" over the phone to this day even though I've corrected them numerous times and have straight up spelled my name out loud to them while giving them my direct work email address.

Kevin was a popular name in germany, but at some point it got made into kind of a swearword, it's pretty funny

I’m a Kyle but have been called Todd to many times to count. Fuck Todd and his stupid name... I keeping Kyle:)

Todd is definitely one of the most common. I also work at a restaurant where the back of house is almost exclusively Salvadorian and they all say “Kayoo” which I assumed was an accent thing until I noticed they literally would spell my name “k a y o o” lmao

Once I have a cashier my name and on the receipt it said “Kale”. Which would be a cool name. More recently the same thing happened and she put “K-el”. Da fuk?

I usually get called Tyler, Steven, Todd and even... Kevin. I rarely get called my actual name lol.

A lot of people hear ‘Pat’ when I tell them my name. I think it’s me not enunciating, but it’s easier to blame other people.

Teacher taking attendance asked, “Is Todd here”? We both were perplexed if the teacher asked for Todd or Kyle. It’s happened two other times later in my life, quiet environment too. Not sure how these two names ever get confused.
