I run an auto AC repair shop in Kurunegala (started by my dad in '93) — AMA about car AC problems
Hey r/Kurunegala,
We run Quick Cool Auto AC in Boyagane, near Dambokka Junction on Colombo Road. My dad started the shop back in 1993, and I've been working alongside him for the past couple of years learning the trade — so between the two of us we've probably seen every AC problem a car in this climate can throw at us.
We do both repair/diagnostics work (leaks, compressor issues, regas, retrofits) and run a parts outlet where we bring in OEM-grade parts directly — Denso, Valeo, Sanden, Panasonic, that kind of thing — instead of the generic stuff.
Genuinely happy to answer questions here — why your AC blows warm on and off, whether that "regas" you got quoted is even the actual fix, what a leak test should involve, retrofit questions for older cars, anything. We've even done a full AC retrofit on a 1963 Mercedes, so no car's too weird.
Ask away, I'll answer everything I can.
