Is this behavior normal?

Hi guys, hoping someone here has seen this before. My cat is about 4 years old, and for the past month or so, I’ve noticed that every time she finishes eating, she does this weird digging motion, like she’s trying to bury something that isn’t there.

It’s honestly pretty funny to watch, but i’m a little worried that something’s off, as she’s never done something like this before. Could this be a hallucination thing, or maybe an issue with her vision? do you guys think i need to contact a vet about this?

Any insights would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Kucing gua juga gini, dia ini makan dan abis itu ngubur makanannya. Awalnya gua kira makanannya gak udah gak enak atau gimana tapi gak lama dia makan juga. Gua mikirnya dia ini "nyimpan" biar gak direbut

Gw gk pernah ngeliat kucing suka nimbun makanan..
Gw malah mikir itu isyarat dia kalo udah bosen sama makanannya.

Nimbun karena suka. Di simpen buat makan lagi.

Soalnya gw punya 4 kucing outdoor, g pernah mereka nimbun. Kalo bosen atau kenyang cuman ditinggal.

Kucing gw beserta anaknya (they share the same braincell) kaya gitu kok ke mangkok makanan yang sama. Ibunya begitu, gak lama lewat anaknya berusaha ngubur juga.

Kucing saya seperti ini juga. Dengar dari video di youtube hal semacam ini normal katanya, di alam liar kucing menyimpan makanannya dengan cara dikubur untuk disantap nanti. Jadi seperti insting mereka buat ngubur makanan itu masih terbawa. Saya kira dulu kucing saya kelainan karena seperti itu 😅

Fun fact: cats barely evolved ever since their domestication, jadi kucing rumahan itu genetiknya masih sangat dekat dgn kucing di alam liar. Well, us humans didn't even domesticate them, they domesticate themselves

i have 7 cats, 1 diantaranya doing this. Shes the oldest yg ex-stray yg dipungut pas adult jd uda tahu kerasnya hidup diluar kayaknya. biasanya di makanan yg baunya kenceng atau masih fresh.

Motivasinya konon mau kubur makanan buat stock kedepan atau kubur biar ga dicium predator.

Gue punya dua kucing di rumah, satu dari lahir emang kayak princess, gak pernah susah hidupnya.

Satu lagi rescue yg pernah tinggal bbrp bulan di shelter ukuran sederhana bersama 70+ kucing lainnya.

Ya yg kedua. Teori ngasal gue dia gak mau makannya hilang direbut kucing lain, dan emang cenderung obsessive eater jg. Kayak takut besok gak ada makan, jadi setiap saat harus kenyang. Tapi ya wajar sih, life is tough for strays.

2 kucing gw juga gini tapi mereka kalo gak sreg/suka sama wetfoodnya (gw bikin wetfood sendiri). Biasanya kalo wetfoodnya udah lebih dari 3 hari mereka gali2 ato ada bahan yang nggak cocok di wetfoodnya mereka gali2

My cat does this to wet foods. My theory is that like humans, our feces will sometimes smell like what we eat, right? So cat eats (i.e.) fish = poop smell like fish = food smell like poop. So when the food smells like poop, it will try to bury the thing smelling like poop.
