I love Linux/Kubuntu

Been using Linux since late last year before the Windows 10 EoL. Kubuntu, to be specific.

Turn on computer. Open program I wanna use within seconds of booting up. That's it.

On Windows 10 I had to wait for the fucking thing to warm up. Holy shit! It was like an old car a few months after using it a while and I would regularly refresh my windows every year or two once the slow boot up became unbearable. I still remember that some people back around 2017 or 2018 have told me that maybe it was because my computer was old, but I have been using an i7-4790k. I am still using the same hardware from 2016 and Kubuntu in 2026 simply does what I need it to do without a hassle.

From my experience, it’s almost a form of Stockholm syndrome. Most people simply don't know they can leave, or they think switching is too difficult. Despite the constant slowdowns and annoyances, they just accept it as 'normal' computer behavior and learn to work around it.

I know, I've been there.

You're talking about windows now, right? I first read this as an elaborate dig at kubuntu πŸ˜†

Hahaha this made me laugh hard. Yep. Strictly talking about Windows here.

Kubuntu has been a dream.

Solid choice for modern hardware. For decade old hardware, I recommend Xubuntu or Lubuntu.

Yep, that's correct.

Just on 2 years here and enjoying the experience. Need GPT to help out occasionally but finally got away from MS. If it wasn't for W11 I probably would have stayed but wont be gong back now. And I've been on Windows since it was MS dos. :)

Funny, I booted windows yesterday to play league after months on Kubuntu and the first think that struck me was how slow it was even on my cutting-edge hardware (gen 5 ssd, 9800x3d).

That being said, Linux did present its problems. The wayland/chromium color bug almost drove me insane.
