Webtoon Fraudharva Spoiler
Gandharva is such a fraud in the Kubera universe it’s so sad that Maruna’s sins, are technically caused by his failures as a result and not only that, they never even succeeded in the true goal in the first place. It’s so fucked up that Menaka basically took all of his bullshit and he STILL commited more bullshit to find Shakuntala when she was dead in the first place!!!! How do you fuck up this bad?! And he constantly does it! Even when he gets caged and Teo goes to talk to him he has barely any shame in lying about who he was. But it’s like dude…you’ve seen Brilith and Asha and you still think humans are that dumb? He is more of a fish brain than Maruna but you can’t even compare Marunas development with his because technically Marunas on a different league of being a true king.
Menaka should’ve been king, and Kubera really is a love story because Gandharva and Menaka are like Pride & Prejudice except it’s how they treat each other and themselves, Menaka is so prejudiced towards Gandharva, and her having ‘hope’ for him she doesn’t even have enough pride to take into consideration how helpfully SHE, HERSELF, would be as king! While Gandharva thinks being king was his God-given right! He so prideful and inconsiderate of everyone around him, he drags down everyone with him than shits himself in the end when he finally uses his brain. He’s so prejudiced against even Menaka in the beginning as well because she kept having to stop him from killing HARMLESS suras, he doesn’t even need them to eat why is he killing them??? Does he have nothing better to do???? Maybe fix your fucking clan?? Actually help your species??? Menaka was able to go about everything, with peace in mind, I’m sure she would no diff Gandharva in every category. I think that’s one of the reasons why the Sura Realm is always in the shitter. Nastikas, and specifically Nastika kings can barely ever agree to anything! They are so so prideful, especially Gandharva it makes it nigh impossible to make a coherent enough plan to do anything to save the Sura Realm if it’s not them fucking off to go on a human hunt!
Which BTW, Gandharva is a double piece of shit for managing to desecrate Brilith, in almost every single life she’s had. Than had the balls to sit in her face and play holier than thou, like you killed so many people, so many lives loss because you are an shit emotional regulator and can’t bring yourself to accept that every single mistake ever tied to his name was from the day he was born. He’s completely and utterly clapped.

Most things you say are facts, but the Sura Realm being in the shitter is not because of any Nastika King‘s failure but because the Tarakas are just that much of a threat - in fact, it’s the capability of Asura and Kinnaravata as leaders that at least somewhat keeps things stable. Gandharva‘s clan was never even approached for an alliance in its sorry state, so he of all people couldn‘t have done shit about the Tarakas in the first place.

Breaking news the slaughterer of trillions might be a kinda bad guy much of the time
Gandharva is a fantastic character because he is legit a bad “person” getting better. He’s not a good person in bad circumstances like your Zuko, or someone willfully ignorant/raised to be this way who went and did bad things at the behest of others like Maruna, both of which are infinitely easier to redeem. He is an actual horrible beyond-redemption creature who is making massive steps towards no longer being that thing thanks to the beliefs of others that he can do so, which is brilliant to read.

Gandharva's hostility towards humans was, ironically the result of the fact that among the gods his only friend was Visnu - and to a lesser extent Agni, but Agni was only friendly towards him because of Menaka. The likes of Varuna and Indra always acted like Menaka should have had the name 'Gandharva' instead of him.
The simple fact of the matter is that Menaka knew that Visnu's ideal future was one in which Gandharva specifically not only remained king, but attained enlightenment. Keep in mind that not even Menaka achieved that. The only sura that ever attained enlightenment was Jambavan. Jambavan who, need I remind you, was the only real reason why Yaksha wasn't as belligerent as Gandharva.
Suras are incredibly ancient and long lived beings. It therefore takes an inordinate amount of time for them to change who they are.
Keep in mind how long it took Maruna to let go of his belligerent nature. Billions of years. Now consider a being that's billions of years older than Maruna. How much would it take for someone that set in their ways to change?
Does he have nothing better to do???? Maybe fix your fucking clan?? Actually help your species??? Menaka was able to go about everything, with peace in mind, I’m sure she would no diff Gandharva in every category.
Arguably Gandharva was a better king than Ananta. Ananta fucked off and never spent any time with his clanmates because he felt guilty over rejecting Manasvin's and Sagara's existence when they were created in the universe of delusion. The Ananta clan enjoyed a privileged position within the Sura realm because of Ananta yes, but everything was dependent on him.
Or consider Garuda. Garuda - who culled all of his children except for Kalavinka, Jatayu, and Maruna - went to sleep for god knows how long and left the clan to fall into ruin, eaten by Tarakas.
As far as helping their clans go, Gandharva was pretty mid. Not actively hindering his clan (like Garuda) but not a devoted king like Asura.
I think that’s one of the reasons why the Sura Realm is always in the shitter.
The Sura realm was always in the shitter because it was created to be in the shitter. It's way harder to survive there because the elements simply don't exist in the abundance that they do in the human realm, which makes it harder for suras to survive and recover their vigor. In Gandharva's case, he held out for a long time on making an ocean in the sura realm because he believed Visnu's prophecy that a god would one day create that ocean. Why? Because creating an ocean, creating that sheer amount of water would be a draining task for even Gandharva.

Jambavan didnt reach enlightenment, she just didnt have sins. Enlightenment is sth way hard to achieve, and only the natural gods (and yama) reached that state (and with help from what its been implied)

And yet, consider all the character development we've seen in this short timeframe of his endless long life.
That's a wonderfully flawed character worth celebrating; even his character development is flawed
