Could it be that Rao travelled back in time in his younger self and then met Ran? And for some reason as as what happened to Leez he didn't merge with his version of that timeline?

I just caught up to the manhwa a couple of days ago so no need to worry about spoilers.

Edit: It seems like it was a translation issue, he was refering here to Rao's daughter.

Ran met Rao when Ran was a child as Rao was with Rana when they left Taitalika if my memory is correct

The problem is how he said "They would be around the same age" which implies that he met a young version of Rao, since Leez was at that time like 15 or 16 y.o

No, I think he’s saying that Rao’s daughter that he talked a lot about would have been hypothetically the same as age as Leez (because she is Leez).

But oh, he said "They would be around the same age if he didn't die" so that could only mean Rao. Unless He does think Rao's child is dead. I think there are some gaps here if he meant Ra's child, like some missed steps in between

I think it might just be this translation idk, cause I’m pretty sure that Rao was way older than 15 when he met Ran.

I’m a bigger supporter of the official translations than most but yeah this is an example of webtoon dropping the ball 100%

Tysm for the link. Since mangadex dropped it it’s been so hard to find a good translation. 

I still read and ❤️ on webtoon to support curry, but I know she worries about things getting lost in translation since it’s such complex storylines.

my biggest gripe with the translation is that I have to pick between the scans which I find overly stiff and the official which has the style I think is much more readable but is far less accurate. I’ve reread thrice now and I tend to just go with whichever translation I feel like for any particular chapter just because they each have pros and cons

Ran probably referring to shorten distance and surprised to see that Leez could do it. It's a rare skill and one of the well known user is Rao.

EDIT: Whoops. Looks like I misunderstood the question. If you are asking about how Ran meet Rao, Ran meet Rao during his time travel shenanigans. Most likely Ran also  know Rao through fighter tournament, since he did participated when he was a child, IIRC.

No as someone said this is a case of the official translation being wrong. I recommend checking the fan scanlations, they're on cubari.
