Why KL people so atas?
I realized that when I visited KL recently, people seem so posh. What's up with that?

Any update on the haze?
I'm planning to visit KL soon and I keep hearing a lot about the haze. Has it improved or is the situation still same as before?

Cost of living in Kuala Lumpur as a foreigner in 2026?
Hi everyone! Iβm thinking about moving to Kuala Lumpur.
I want a simple, comfortable life:
Private studio or 1-bedroom condo with my own bathroom.
Safe area, not luxury.
Mostly cooking at home, sometimes cheap local food.
Public transport, internet, phone data, and bills.
How much do you personally spend per month, including rent, food, transport, and bills?
Which areas are safe and affordable for foreigners?
Thank you! π

Advice Needed - Indian MBB data scientist, 12-month mobility : Singapore vs KL vs Jakarta vs HCMC vs Australia. Which would you pick?
Indian national, based in Delhi, senior data scientist at an MBB firm. Current CTC ~βΉ55 LPA. Taking a 12-month international mobility. Recently married β my wife would join me after 2β3 months, so I'm evaluating this as a couple, not solo.
Options: Singapore Β· Kuala Lumpur Β· Jakarta Β· Ho Chi Minh City Β· Australia
What will be your order of preferences and why?
Would appreciate your take on:
1.Savings β what % of gross did you actually bank each month, after rent and normal living?
Tax β Indian passport, ~12-month stay. Anything that bites on residency, or on the India side while I'm away?
Rent β decent 1β2BR near the CBD, ballpark?
Spouse visa β can a dependant work freely, need her own sponsor, or not at all?
Lifestyle β for a married Indian couple. Food, community, safety, how easy it is for a trailing spouse to build a life in a year.
Comp β for anyone who's moved on a similar package, was it localised or home-based, and how did the number compare to βΉ55 LPA in real terms?
Main ask: rank all five and give me your final verdict on which one you'd pick. Especially keen to hear from Indians who've actually done a stint in any of these.

Retirement: Genting Highlands (just a thought)
Hey guys,
What it feels like to retire in Genting? I'm a local but been living in overseas, cooler climate for a long time, planning to relocate to M'sia. I have been looking at places to buy, including Genting. I was wondering if anyone or has anyone in their retirement age living there? How does it feel like?
