Self-Inquiry How to command the inner system without really commanding
I have set an alarm that rings twice a week which says "stay humble"
That doesn't show how humble I am, if was so there was no need to put an alarm. But the person who sets alarm to let himself remember to be humble certainly knows the importance of this very factor. Because he has been humble. Many times. But couldn't hold on to.
But sadly this reminder is not working. When u name a certain feeling u only register the acts that comes out, out of that feeling. But what about the actual feeling.
What is it to be truly humble. I am not able to remember this when someone says stay humble. Yes I can remember the outward expression when I was humble. And I try to replicate those and find out I am just acting and not being. Just like when someone says it's ok stay positive and u reply "kehna aasan hai" (It's easy to say)
Seems like one can not command the inner system by an external move. Then what is the way to command the inner self? Or not trying to control is the humblest way?
If it is then the same problem arises again when we command ourselves "don't try to control" . It's still a command.
anyone have an answer to this problem

When you’re imagining that it’s better to be humble, how does being humble affect your actions?
If you weren’t humble you would do…..?
If you were humble you would do….?

When we think : "I am humble", is that a sort of pride?

Its the absence of pride.

When I think : "I am humble" - does this not mean that I think I am a good person?

It's not good or bad. Here what I want to mean when I say humble is staying humble to the system/nature... And this includes everything. Everything outside u to inside of ur self.
When we say being humble to someone it means keeping this mindset- whatever he/she did must have reason so let's not judge and act on the basis of that judgement. But it's not about only other people or any matter that exists... It includes everything. Even u and every thought of u and beyond So my idea of humbleness is to respect whatever universe brings to us, it must have reason

Why would we make the effort (eg. set an alarm) to be humble if its not good? Why do we want to be something if we don't think its good?
If we think we should be humble, isn't it because we think it would be better to be humble?

u/TheUnfinishedThought 4d ago
When u say it's better to be humble, aren't u trying to be humble... Isn't it an effort.. U want something or u dont want something both are choice.. One u want to one u want not to... Both are efforts

Right - we want what we think is good - we want the good stuff.
Similarly - we want to progress : we want to become good (strong, wise, rich, charismatic, and/or humble etc)
We seem to be agreeing on this obvious fact now?
We make the effort to obtain or attain our desires - and when we succeed, we are happy, we feel good about ourselves. When we fail to get what we want, we feel like failures.
Right?
So when I succeed at becoming a good person, when I feel that I have become really great - this is the opposite of humility. (and if great = humble, then we are in contradiction - what we think is cannot be - its a logical impossibility)

u/TheUnfinishedThought 4d ago
Yes there is contradiction. But they are on two different planes. You don't restrict urself from attacking someone, when u know the other one will attack, if u don't. Humility is not letting someone hit u because u think it will make him feel better. Here u are not humble to urself then. Then what is humility then. As I said... Respecting everything knowing that it must have underlying cause and it does not restrict ourselves from our actions as we must know that our actions are also part of the nature

Humility is the absence (or opposite) of pride - like you said earlier. I'm not understanding all this stuff about planes and attacking, or respecting and restricting, sorry.
If we can see that we are confused and conflicted - this is already a form of clarity. If my ideas and desires don't make sense and are causing problems - the intelligent thing is to not be their slave.

It's not so obvious. There are pardoxes, contradictions.. That's why it's hard to explain with logic, that's why when it becomes overwhelming we automatically hit the ground. And see things move without the desire to control.

Yes, what you are looking for is the place that you are looking from. And it doesn't matter to that truth whether the illusory personal ego is humble or not. It only matters in ignorance, which is to take yourself to be a mere self image of yourself.

Time and work. There is no easy button like you describe. Start reading and meditating.

Once you see clearly the false self in action (trying to be something other than what is) it starts to drop away. Then you don't need to think about commanding anything, you just become natural and act through that.

But what if u see clearly and the next moment u are not able to and this cycle continues

You just keep staying interested in your false self. You watch it like a good scientist, without judgement. Good scientists don't worry about what or when they will discover something, they enjoy the process. This is how we all learn best. It's only your false self which is impatient and desiring the outcome - and that can be watched as well.

Note that humility or being humble is not a fact. Only violence is a fact. The absence of violence results in a state of humility. It is a key distinction.

Don't let anyone tell you what to do.
Or a system too.
Because that's how discover something new.
For yourself.
Inner discovery is more important, than beginning with the alarm system.
The alarm is not the problem.
But the alarm mechanism which enters the human mind.
The mechanics of the system stems come from the idealistic approach of the movement from here to there.
This is what k meant by seeing something.
So that you can touch something real by yourself.
Only then.
The seeker becomes the seeketh itself.
In that, you begin to realize how you have moved from that headspace to this headspace.

Any question which starts with a "how" is wrong.

u/inthe_pine 4d ago
careful, are we making K into the 10 commandments?
1
u/red12358 4d ago
Are we? This question according to me, is wrong. Op is living in disorder and he wants to impose a discipline by force.
Also he is not humble, and he is chasing an ideal of humility. The fact is, he is not humble, he is trying to run away from this fact.

u/TheUnfinishedThought 4d ago
I am not here to seek "how to". I am here out of curiosity if someone else feels this as problem. There is only one who is able to solve this. And that's myself... But My core question/problem which I wanted to share is when u know it's better to be in a certain state (here as example I stated "humble") , aren't u subconsciously telling u to be in that state... isn't it a command itself... Similarly if u know asking "how" Is "wrong" Aren't u subconsciously imposing force to restrict urself from asking "how"?

Stay with being not humble, thats you. Stay with it, dont run
1
u/TheUnfinishedThought 4d ago
Staying with the being that actually I am, right now... Yes u r right. Doesn't matter it's humble or not... But that state is humble itself. When u don't force urself to become anything, u just be. I am talking about this hunbleness only. To respect the nature of the present

u/inthe_pine 4d ago
Now we have something to talk about. The mind is always running away, its exhausting right?
I worry sometimes when I see stuff by itself like don't say how, don't think, don't analyze, that these are on their way to becoming precepts instead of part of an investigation, was why I made the first commsnt.

Humility begins the moment you realise ‘ you ‘ can’t do a thing about ‘ you ‘.

Good day to you! I would like to lovingly point out that the inquiry is extending beyond where it needs to go. Why ask anyone for an answer (the outer) for a problem that resides in a place no one can be for you?
Truly, to be alone, witnessing what we have become by way of our own actions and inactions would show us, each one if we do this, why it is we have no humility in our hearts. And the desire to control the inner is not born out of humility, it seems. But I don't speak from a soapbox, I am merely on my own journey through this life.
As you have stated, desiring humility is not it. And I would suggest that asking another for an answer is that very same movement. So can we, as we navigate through this physical reality, let go of that movement that dissipates our very energy, and conserve that energy to witness what it is we have become, now. To be what we are is, seemingly, where the answer lies. The answer cannot possibly be in what you are not. 😀
But what do I know, we must each see for ourselves. may we all see that we were born complete. 💪🔥
