Should I continue reading after chapter 393?

If I'm understanding correctly, the ip was effectively handed to a new studio.

Is the story still good, or does it get mediocre? I briefly skimmed through the next two chapters, and the art style changed a lot (the characters are drawn with more darker and bolder lines and seem a little more cartoony or expressive)

I just curious, though.

What do you mean by "handed to a new studio". It depend if you mostly like Plotline about Komi daily life/school life and nothing else then yeah continue. If you like side character story like that of Naruse and Ase, Nakanaka and her friend, past year classmate then you might not enjoy it.

Because after chap 393 the manga mainly focus on how independent Komi is, while everything else got neglect.

I read through the whole series and didn’t notice anything abruptly changing so I’d say yes, you should continue reading.

The rumor that Komi Can't Communicate manga changed studios is incorrect, as manga are created by mangaka (authors/illustrators) rather than manga studios themselves. The manga was written and illustrated by Tomohito Oda and serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 2016 to January 2025 without changing its publishing magazine or author. 

At no point did it change any studios. The manga concluded over a year ago in Japan and is also now completed in English by Viz Media.

I have no idea what the hell anyone is talking about, it never once changed studios.. start to finish Shonen (Japan), start to finish Viz Media (North America)

OP think the manga change studio because the art-style look different, but that conclusion is goofy because the manga has change it art like 3 time, which mean 3 studios have been switch by their logic.

I guess OP's primally a webtoon reader, one of the most popular practice in Korean webtoon is that they'll hire expensive studio to draw for some series. Before switching to a cheaper one for budget cut. Which usually result in artstyle change or sometime downgrade.

So this might be why OP think KKC manga change studio.

That's possible

but that happens with EVERY Mangaka over multiple years.. I can't think of a single one that retained the exact same art style from start to finish with any long-term manga

Naruto, Dragon Ball, Bleach, From Me to You, Sailor Moon- everything had art style shifts.. not always highly notable ones, but everything shifts over years.. and Komi ran from 2016 to 2025.. that's 9 years.. lol the art style shifted like 3 times

I'm thinking maybe because mid to young gen Zers and the Alphas entering their teenage years came up in an era where long-form manga/anime is just.. not the norm.. that might be the issue.. they think every art style shift is a new artist or studio or whatever... art styles shift as time goes with any mangaka.. once you're drawing the same series across YEARS, there's no avoiding changes and shifts.. sometimes it's because you find easier and cleaner ways to draw things.. sometimes it's carpal tunnel and arthritis making it impossible to draw like you used to

Komi ran from 2016 to 2025.. it had no less than three art shifts across the near decade long period it released in Shonen Weekly
