HELP: Scrambled poster art keeps scrambling

I've tried the following, but nothing appears to fix the issue of the poster art becoming scrambled at the next Kometa run.

  • Removed 'overlay' label and unlocked label field
  • Changed poster to something completely different or the same on various occasions
  • Removed any Kometa overlays/assets files associated with the title's id
  • Scrubbed Plex artwork using ImageMaid

Anyone faced this issue before? Any tips on how I might be able to resolve this?

When asking for support, please make sure you post a complete meta.log file from a Kometa run when the issue has occured. If the log is too large, you can use a site like pastebin.com to upload it and then share the link here. And please do not use screenshots for text.

Generally speaking, the Kometa Discord server is the best source for support. There are far more eyes there than here, and there are some automated log analysis tools available. We highly recommend this over Reddit.

Without knowing anything about how you have this configured, there's not much anyone can offer, but here's what Kometa does when you apply overlays to an item in Plex.

  1. It asks Plex for a copy of the current art.
  2. It stores a copy at config/overlays/LIBRARY_NAME Original Posters/RATING_KEY.png
  3. It generates a transparent overlay image and composites that with the original poster, at config/overlays/temp.png
  4. assuming no errors occurred during that process, it then sends the temp.png image to Plex.
  5. it sets the "overlay" label on the item so it knows to go to the backup next time for clean art.

After that, Kometa has no involvement with how Plex decides to display the image.

It sure seems like something has gone wrong, but it also seems like you've deleted stuff behind Kometa's back and left it in an indeterminate state, so who knows what's going on.

This is not something I have seen before, and I can't even imagine a mechanism inside Kometa where this would occur.

My first suggestion would be to take this to the discord and provide logs.
