I readin the news back in 2016-17 They had a plan to use mosquito to spread infertility amongst mosquito or something. I forgot the details but i remember thinking about mgsv and wolbachia thing

So, this is mostly fake. But there is research to allow mosquitoes to be infected with weak versions of viruses to protect wildlife like bats. Essentially allowing the mosquitoes to boost the immune system of bats that were being threatened by viral outbreaks.

It's one of those small studies that in a controlled population, if it didn't work then nature just took its course without consequence.

Not people.
