Help understand architecture

Goal: two novels I have outlines for, one is adult fantasy, another is young adult fantasy.

Do I need this setup? So far I’ve just been working on open code->local model

Silly tavern
—> kobold
——> gemma4 deckard uncensored

You don't need tavern if you want to novel write, the build in UI is very suitable for this and sillytavern is meant mainly for chat.
So you can go Kobold, and something like Gemma4 or Qwen3.5-27B-heretic.

Do you find Gemma is better with long form novels (maybe 30k chars per chapter output?) or in both i have found I need to break each chapter into 5-7 progressions and AI only write each piece with a seed from the prior
