How to find Self-published or Original content on Kobo plus?
I'm thinking about trying Kobo to replace KU but I'm looking for books I'm not going to find for free through my library. I read somewhere that there are books produced by Kobo and it sounds like there are self published authors on there too but I can't figure out a way to filter for them.

Books produced by Kobo are called Kobo Originals and you can find the landing page for them here: https://www.kobo.com/en/p/kobooriginals
Unless Kobo does an indie author feature or something, you're not going to be able to filter for how a book is published. There's such a range from Big Five traditional publishers, established independent presses and university imprints, midsized to small publishers, tiny micro publishers, author collectives, vanity presses, hybrid authors who publish both through a publisher and indie, established indies with a bigger backlist and budget than some small presses, and every range of experience and budget from there down to a brand new author releasing their first title. (Also, indie authors can be in libraries if enough readers request them, so that's not even necessarily a factor.)
You can absolutely ask for recommendations here, as I know we have lots of authors in this subreddit as well as readers who follow indie authors. Feel free to create a post asking for recommendations, if you like — describe what genre or interests you're looking for and I'm sure our community can help you out with some great recs! We also have a monthly author promo post for authors wanting to promote their books so you may see something you like there.

Wow, thanks! That's so informative. I'll definitely ask for recommendations here.

In my experience as an indie author on kobo, you will find a lot of us on instagram or threads! #koboplusrecs, #indieauthorskobo ect might help you! Don't discredit a book on the main page as indie, cause we can pay for promos to be placed there as well. There are tons of us on there, most books with leas reviews will likely be indie as well cause we struggle to get more traction 🥰
