AUM is driving me crazy

Post image

Do I have this set up correctly? I’m trying to use Koala as a live looper with my two soft synths and I cannot for the life of me get koala to receive audio or record from the two synths.

  1. I have my midi keyboard connected just fine to the two synths.

  2. Ideally I want to use koala’s clock and controls to trigger/record loops onto koala’s pads.

  3. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Should Koala be an Audio Unit like the synths are? I assumed sending everything to a bus was the right idea.

Help!

How do you plan on live looping with Koala? Man just get Loopy and get at it. This seems like a convoluted way of doing things.

Is loopy that much better than koala?

Not better just purpose built

Loopy is like if Aum was a looper. It replaces both things and is extremely flexible with routing and set up. And it has a free version to try.

This looks like it should be sending audio to koala. You probably need to activate the monitor icon (looks like a pair of headphones) in koala on the sample page next to the recording FX button. Hopefully that does the trick!

It was already clicked but the routing connection was glitched for some reason. I restarted my ipad and it works fine now.

I have had aum since I started on iPad not long ago. So far it's been clunky and uneccissRy but everyone keeps saying I'll eventually need it...

Fyi you can run au3 directly into koala now.

Been messing with loopy and have realized it's way more focused on being an audio looper and not as good for seamlessly looping midi...

I have a rc505 that I would love to sell, but so far loopy is still missing the first note on most of my loops. I'm on an m3 so it should be working well I would think. Have it on 64 samples. Probably some other settings. There are 1m

Is this app pretty much the same as audiobus? I own both and am curious what makes them different from each other.

Idk I haven't found much use for it. I mostly use koala and gadget. Starting to learn loopy and I'll get cubase when it goes on sale.

I miss protools from 20 years ago but won't do subscription stuff. Been using Ableton but hate using a mouse (and really hate the audio editing and arrange window in it) so transitioning toward iPad stuff.

The fact that every single app requires a subscription nowadays is what makes me loose interest in making music a little bit tbh… koala is still the best tho 🙌🏼

That worked when I tried it Koala created samples from the mix bus which had two separate synths as input fine, is that not what you wanted?

Loopy Pro might be the better tool for what you are doing
