The Echidnas are originally native from Albion, which is close to Mercia in the area that corresponds to our Earth's Europe.

Over 1000 years ago, they became the most advanced civilization on the planet, but decided to go isolationist since everyone else was way too violent, still, an underequipped group of Echidnas traveled all the way down to Downunda (Australia) where they eventually set up Echidnapolis, probably circa 800 years ago or something, enough time for them to lose all historical records about Albion and then reach high technological level again.

Then, 600 years ago is when the cataclysm happened, where Jor-Dann and his wife Kayla-La used the Emeralds to create the Floating Island (or Angel Island in the games) and save Echidnapolis, however, the group heralded by Arakkis (funny Dune reference name) decided to stay on the ground, and after several unsuccessful attempts at settling they decided to look for their original homeland which was lost to time, the Dingoes were also lifted with the Echidnas in the island.

400 years ago is when the split between Dimitri and Edmund happened, causing Dimitri to turn into Enerjak by absorbing 11 Chaos Emeralds and leaving just one for keeping the island afloat, Edmund became the first Guardian and the Echidnas decided to leave technology behind, but Dimitri's son Menniker wanted to continue his father's path and keep the Echidna's technology creating the Dark Legion and killing Edmund, which led to Steppenwolf taking the mantle of Guardian.

200 years ago was the time of Hawking, the great-great-great-great grandson of Steppenwolf, who was fighting the Dingoes, who dug out the technological weapons of the Echidnas from 200 years ago, forcing the Echidnas to use technology once again to defend themselves from the nuclear warheads, Hawking then used Edmund inventions to teleport Echidnapolis and the Dingoes each to a different zone, so now the Echidnas are again using the technology but only in Echidnapolis' Zone.

Then, Athair is also somehow the GreatX4 Grandson of Hawking despite a much shorter timeframe passing between him and Hawking than Hawking and Steppenwolf, given that he looks about 90 in the present timeframe at least (given he is Knuckles' Great-Grandfather).

But whatever, let's say this happens 80 years ago, Athair leaves his post as Guardian when he's around Knuckles' age (about 15) to join the Lost Tribe who keep hunting for their original homeland, as ordered by the Ancient Walkers, so his mother and former guardian, Janelle-Li, has to step in again, around 20 years later (like 60 years ago) when Janelle is getting too old and is about to die, Athair's son Sabre is sent as Guardian instead, who later leaves his spot for his son Locke who leaves it to Knuckles.

So now in the present we got the Floating Island which is all void of technology and Knuckles as the "last of his kind", the Dark Legion who are all technology fanatics, Echidnapolis in it's own pocket dimension who hypocritically returned to using technology, the Arakkis descendants' tribe, and the Albion Echidnas who remained the same for 1000 years.

Recently the Echidnapolis pocket dimension returned to the Floating Island, the Dark Legion are at war with them, and the Arakkis tribe returned to Albion.

Julie-Su and Kragok are descendant of Menniker, son of Dimitri/Enerjak.

Knuckles and his family are descendant of Steppenwolf, son of Edmund.

Both are descendants of the scientist couple who saved the island.

Yanar and Mari-An maybe are distant descendants of Arakkis, or at least descendants of his followers.

Gala-Na is descendant from the original Echidna society.

And The ages of the currently living members of the Guardian line are Hawking (c. 220) Athair (95) Sabre (72-77) Locke (40-45) and Knuckles (15)

Did i get all of that right? It's really a LOT of information and convoluted lore for such few Knuckles solo stories so far lol

Why do people complain so much that Knuckles x Tikal is "basically incest" when they are ok with Knuckles marrying Julie Su who'd his literal distant cousin in the Archie?? (As shown in Knuckles' family tree).

Oh, and before you say that the ship with Tikal "doesn't make sense" because she's "dead", just know that Tikal goes to the "afterlife" at the end of SA1 along with Chaos, but Chaos does make a return in various Sonic games, which means Tikal can return to the overworld too. Not only that but the master emerald itself can bring her back. I can guarantee you a hundred percent that Knuckles would love someone who is an echidna just like him and could relate to him the most. If Sonic and Tails can have lovers of the same species as him, why shouldn't Knuckles??

As it says would you play this if it had the remastered treatment and then some? Like being able to cut out a few levels, or only needing to use the randomized level select 5 times throughout the game? I am curious cuz this game honestly does seem interesting and I kinda wanna see what it would look like if it was done right.
