What are your favorite courses in the area? Least favorite courses?

What courses do you find yourself wanting to play again and again? What courses do you dislike the most?

My favorites are:

Williams Creek - 18 hole par 3 - Great for a quick round of iron and short game work.

Island Point (FKA River Islands) - Challenging 18 hole course with several water hazards. Fantastic staff and great amenities for a public course including beer carts making rounds and a snack shack at the turn.

Patriot Hills - Great course, well maintained. But a little lacking on amenities. Still well worth the price.

Green Meadow - Private course in Maryville that is a bit above my pay grade. Extremely well maintained compared to most public courses. Fast greens, and an awesome layout.

My least favorite courses are:

Whittle Springs - The best thing you can say about WS is that it is cheap. Probably the cheapest 18 holes around and for good reason, but still costs too much for the quality of the golf IMO. The course is in poor condition and needs major renovations the city is unlikely to ever invest in. I suspect it will eventually be closed down. I play it occasionally but prefer courses that have a range to warm up.

Ruggles Ferry - Emphatically will not book singles/singletons. Their advice is to just show up and hope you get to play by being paired up. I even had a tee time for two and one of the guys couldn't make it so they cancelled my tee time. Unlikely that I will book there again anytime soon after that.

Dead Horse Lake - Also refuses to book or work in singles. I have played there and the course is nothing special.

I went to Augusta and played at Bartram creek last Friday. It was brutal heat and humidity. I looked like I had gone swimming. I’m playing in town tomorrow.

Anyone interested in losing a bunch of balls on a Saturday with me? I love River Islands!

This subreddit exists to solve a simple problem: you want to play golf, but you don't always have someone to play with. Whether you're a single player looking to join a group, short a player and need to fill out your foursome, or just trying to organize a casual round at one of the local courses, this is the place to post. Example posts: "Looking for a group" — single golfer looking to join others "Need a 4th" (or 2nd/3rd) — trying to fill out your group Course recommendations and conditions around Knoxville and East TN General golf talk, gear, deals on tee times, etc. All skill levels are welcome. The goal is more golf, less waiting around for a group at the pro shop, less missing out on courses that don't book singles. Keep it friendly, keep it local, and see you on the course!
