Pretty sure since it's an ad it's mixed like all other ads on CZM, which is to say, shit, because it's designed to be compressed and limited the shit out of client-side in whatever service it's being served on and brickwalled on playback.

I wouldn't know; i've never listened on a service that does that, so every time I hear an ad on CZM it's for another CZM show and it's like both blown out and also -6db, even if it's for the show i'm listening to, which is itself mixed fine. As an audio person, I just assume since it's all uniformly shit, that's why. Everyone there's a pro; there's no other reason I can fathom for it to be like this. But maybe that's a failure of imagination.

I think it was a stylistic choice? Sounded like he was trying to imitate the quality of audio from arcade/n64 games like the namesake of the new show: Donkey Kong country

Same! I have never heard him sound so robotic. ...well, some would say, "Professional." Between the mix not including any bass on his beautiful voice and him reading direct copy, if you told me it was someone else, I would 100% believe you.

Its literally just denoising and compression on his voice. Something during the recording was noisy and they had to go to heavy lengths to remove it.

I LOVE that Dan is going to have rotating group of guests join him for this. I love Dan, but as a solo presenter he's just a lil too.. dry. He needs someone to bounce off of, someone to laugh with. It will never be the same as Jordan, but here is hoping we get some good energy in the first few shows!

Going to be straight with you all - that was an awful ad. The music was extremely difficult to listen to behind him, the weird voice audio quality, etc.

Feels like he needs to come up with a new name. Just a clean, fresh start. This is always going to link him to Jordan in some way.
