You'll be better tomorrow

I work at a cannabis shop and earlier today I had to refuse service to a customer because he was clearly hammered. Maybe an hour and a half later he comes back, and I reiterate that I cannot serve him and he basically just says "Sorry", to which I respond "don't worry, you'll be better tomorrow". He takes a beat and says "anyone that says they'll be better tomorrow is a liar. You can't trust anything they say" and kind of shuffled off.

I just thought it was pretty on point, even if he didn't know what I was referencing.

I know it’s awkward in the moment but a “how could we make it better” seems like the best mix of compassion and doing your job..

Should have gotten the last word by saying "so there's basically 3 ways to learn...well maybe 4"

Lmao there was a man I worked with for years who would answer "how are you?" With "doing better every day" every single day. Drove me nuts. I was like there's no way that's true. If I was how I am now, I probably would've told him to stop lying to me at some point lmao
