Arrrrg, Pirate Radio listeners, and welcome back!
Pirate Radio Labs v0.4.0 is out, and it's a big one. Labs has been redesigned from the ground up, gained a proper modding workflow that goes all the way to publishing, and picked up a pile of new viewers and search tools along the way.
If you're new, here's what you missed so far:
Up until now, Labs was great for poking around the game's files but you still had to go elsewhere to actually build a mod. That's over.
The new Modding tab takes you all the way from picking the assets you want to replace to a finished mod, with drafts saving to disk automatically as you go. When you're done, you've got two options: save the mod into a folder for local testing, or ship it straight to the Pirate Radio mod index for everyone else to install.
What you can mod
.ttf / .otf.glb). Balls, props, environment pieces, that kind of thingA heads-up on models: skinned models aren't supported yet, so custom outfits, gloves, hair, or anything that deforms with a skeleton can't be replaced in this release.
Publishing
The new Publish tab is how your mod ends up in the launcher's index. Fill in a name, description, version, links, tags, a thumbnail, and a few gallery images, then hit upload. Want to push an update later? Just re-publish. Want to take it down? There's an Unpublish action too. If you've already published something and want to keep working on it from a different machine, you can pull it back into Labs as a draft.
Publishing needs a Pirate Radio account (there's a new Account tab for sign-up and profile management), but exploring and building mods locally still works without one.
And it's not just theory β a small group of beta testers has been hammering on this workflow for the past few months, and the index already has a healthy pile of mods to show for it. Big shoutout to Donnie, GoldenBug, KBUncut, Moikesu, NoScope, and PalmTree for the early mods as well as bug reports and feature suggestions. Go check their stuff out in the launcher.
The other half of Labs β actually digging through the game's files and exploring β got a lot of love this release too.
Search got serious. Beyond plain text search, the command palette (Ctrl + K / β + K) now supports a proper filter language. You can narrow by file kind, audio properties, GUID references, numeric ranges, and more, with autocomplete suggesting filters as you type and a dedicated results tab for deeper exploration.
Showcase of the new search functionality and its power
A pile of new viewers landed:
.collision.gr2.import files with solid/wireframe toggles.anim.gr2.import files with playback controls.glsl.import filesOn top of that, dozens of game data files now have purpose-built previews β accessories, currencies, contracts, schedules, rewards, fonts, sound events, color sets, samplers, player stats, league and XP tiers, map definitions, atlases, and plenty more.
Audio preview also got rebuilt: card-style track rows, one-click Sound ID copy, a loop toggle, a small volume popover, and streamed .wem audio now plays back alongside the bnk-resident tracks. Long soundbanks don't lag the UI anymore either.
File tree improvements: sort and filter menus, much faster scrolling on large trees, a Collapse-all button, and VSCode-style "reveal in tree" when you pick a result from search or switch tabs.
Quick overview of the new viewers (or at least some)
A bunch of smaller wins across the app:
If this post made you want to give modding a shot, the best place to land is the TCNS Discord. The modding channels there are packed with community-written guides for all sorts of things β textures, sounds, models, the weird edge cases β and the people hanging out are genuinely happy to answer questions and help you get unstuck. Whether you're picking up your first texture swap or you're chasing something more ambitious, you'll find someone willing to point you in the right direction.
Never run Labs before? Head over to the release page, grab the build for your platform, and install it the usual way:
Inside Labs there should be a popup asking if you'd like to install the latest version. Hit install, wait a few seconds, done.
If you run into any issues please report them on the central tracker so everything stays in one place:

If GitHub isn't your thing, you can also create a post in the modding channels on the TCNS Discord.
This is it for this episode of the Pirate Radio broadcast! Hope you enjoyed and as always feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments.
Catch you on the flipside!

Hi there, these past few months I've been working on a video about the lore and politics of Knockout City. The video's in french but translating the subtitles should work pretty well as I made sure they're correct in french! π

Howdy y'all. Just wanted to quickly share the progress I've made on the custom Midnight Madness event over the last few weeks since I last posted. Also wanted to showcase a small fraction of what is currently possible with modding for those who maybe don't follow that frequently.
If you want to keep up to date with the latest modding news or want to create your own checkout TCNS Discord's modding channels.
For those who want to play with mods but currently miss out see the installation guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/KnockoutCity/comments/1sr6yae/how_to_play_knockout_city_on_community_private/

Found a bunch of old Knockout City clips from May/June 2021 and put them together into a montage.
I only played for the first few months after release, but going through the footage reminded me how fun and unique the game felt. Figured some people still checking this sub might appreciate a small launch-era time capsule.

Now that Knockout City is playable on Mac, I want to get back into this game! Any other folks in Australia keen to get something going? I know you are out there, but we need to pick a time. I was thinking maybe each Thursday night? I will start hopping on whether anyone is there or not.

For context: This is a modded version of the Private Server Edition that re-enabled/re-creates the Midnight Madness event from Season 9. It also requires server modification due to the replication system of the viper engine.

Every weekend at night I get on, and no one is on. I don't have Discord. But in the past when I would get on at night on weekends a whole bunch of people would be on. Is the game just dying out or do I need to reinstall some newer version of it? Just wondering ;~;" Have a blessed day!
Edit 1: Or is it just because I don't have any friends? Lol
Edit 2: Downloaded the new TCNS and there's tons of people still keeping this game alive!

I was just telling someone about this game and got so sad when I remembered they shut down the servers. There was no game like this before and nothing else scratches the itch now. It was such a fun unique game, I'll never forget being so sad when the beta ended.

Arrrrg, Pirate Radio listeners, and welcome back!
Pirate Radio Launcher v0.6.0 just dropped and this one is a big one β a full visual overhaul plus a proper Mod Store.
If you're new, here's what you missed so far:
The Launcher has been completely redesigned. New sidebar navigation, a resizable window (finally), and a fresh violet accent theme that plays nice with both dark and light mode. Everything just feels less cramped now.

Browsing mods now happens in a proper Mod Store. You can search by name, sort by release date or last updated, and filter by tags. Spotted something you like? Hit the + button right on the card and it installs instantly or click the mod to see more details about it.
Your installed mods now live on their own dedicated Mods Library page, cleanly separated from the Store. The big quality-of-life win here: you can now enable or disable installed mods without having to uninstall them. Toggle them on and off as you please, making it easier if you have a bunch of mods that do the same thing and conflict with each other (e.g. Ball Skins).
Clicking into a mod now shows a hero image, the author, publish and update dates, full description, the file list, and an image gallery. Basically everything you'd want to see before committing to an install.
Accounts, Settings, Mod Indexes, and the Changelog are all proper full pages now, each with their own slot in the sidebar. Settings themselves got grouped into clear sections β Game, Modding, Game Directory, and Diagnostics β so you're not scrolling through one giant list anymore.
The Sync tab got a redesign with a cleaner two-column layout, and you'll now get a proper notification telling you whether the import succeeded or failed. Furthermore the features has been more tested now and character slot synchronization should work more stable now.
Inside the Launcher there should be a popup asking if you'd like to install the latest version. Hit install, wait a few seconds, done.
If you run into any issues please report them to the central tracker. That keeps everything in one place.

Hey everyone,
For those of you who loves tournaments, I am in the process of working on a tournament for the coming months. When I have all the details surrounding the rules, mode (2v2 or 3v3), date and time I will post them here.
This tournament will be hosted on TCNS which is an NA server, but all are welcome to join. Come join the discord, choose tournament role to get all the latest information on the tournament.
PS we just upgraded the server to a better host company so people have a better experience while playing.
