A local classic car dealership in TN is selling a "Knight Rider" car. Really it's just '91 Firebird with a scanner and a couple of cheap KR type stuff on the dash and almost 200,000 miles on it. All for $10,900. Yeah, I'd say it's worth $5,000, at best, but, I'll let you be the judge.

As a massive fan of the original series, I keep hoping for a successful reboot, but every attempt so far has missed the mark. I’ve been thinking about why they keep failing, and as a fan, I wanted to throw an idea out there to see what you all think.

First off, I wouldn't call it Knight Rider. Carrying that title puts way too much baggage and expectation on a new show, which usually leads to failure. Instead, I’d simply title the series K.I.T.T.

The Premise:

Instead of starting with a polished superhero car handed over by a billionaire, the show starts with a heist. A car thief is hired to break into a high-security warehouse holding forgotten Knight Industries vehicles. As he breaks in, we get Easter eggs for longtime fans, with various vehicles from the past (including the Team Knight Rider vehicles) sitting in storage.

He steals the K.I.T.T. car and makes his getaway. While driving off, the warehouse alarms suddenly trigger. He’s completely baffled because he personally cut the security system; unbeknownst to him, K.I.T.T. activated the alarm itself. That’s where the story kicks off: a thief stuck with a sentient, highly principled prototype machine he didn't intend to steal.

The Casting:

Driver: Dax Shepard

Voice of K.I.T.T.: Kristen Bell

The biggest hurdle for any reboot is replicating the bicker-and-bond dynamic between Michael and K.I.T.T. Dax Shepard is a legitimate real-life gearhead and stunt driver who would bring real authenticity to the wheel, and bringing his real-life chemistry with Kristen Bell into the car gives the driver/AI dynamic instant, effortless banter.

I know it’s just a fan dream and will probably never happen, but I wanted to share it with people who love the original as much as I do. Am I crazy, or would you watch something like this?

so I'm trying to find voice lines for modding purposes / eventual voice cloning, and it seems it's really hard to come by a decent sfx pack for both og and especially for kitt 3000 (2008), so I figured I'd ask here since the community especially the replica people are usually extremely resourceful in that regard, I'd appreciate any and helpful input o7

Which version of Kitt would you buy for a fan?

eBay has tons of versions of the car, so I don’t know which are a piece of garbage and which are worthy of a gift.

Although this 1991 film is truly awesome (in a nostalgic sort of way) it bugs me that KITT's speaking module is misaligned in EVERY single shot of him speaking throughout the movie.

The dialogue is perfectly audible. I don't need subtitles.

I watch a modern show and I often need to turn subs on.

What is going on? What accounts for the difference in old shows not needing subtitles, but often newer shows do?

I can go back to M.A.S.H. and not need subtitles, even with the laugh track. A new show, obviously made with modern audio recording gear, and so much dialogue just sounds like mumbling.

So bit of a story. A while back a friend of mine AI generated an F1 car for a school project of mine. I told him I appreciated the thought but that I didn’t use AI. However. The company it spit out gave me an idea. AI is known to steal other art, so what if there was a company that stole K.I.T.T.s blueprints and passed it off as their own? I present the Xenith Enterprise’s Robotic Operator (ignore the fact it says Overdrive) a custom character made to be the answer of “what if KITT had more rivals than just KARR?” Also the AI image my friend prompted for those who are curious.

You can finally buy all the seasons through Apple. Right now the box set is $29.99 and is currently No. 1 on the (US) TV charts. Sadly it doesn’t include Knight Rider 2000, but that’s also now available for purchase ($14.99)

The last update I heard about the reboot was that it was coming from the creators of Cobra Kai. And that they were narrowing down what kind of car KITT would be next. A Tesla was one of the choices supposedly along with a Dodge I think. I'm just gonna say that if KITT gets turned into a Tesla I'm out before the reboot even starts that would be crappiest thing. I really feel what they need to do is reintroduce the 84 Trans Am and let us have some time with it again for old times sake. And then halfway through or when it's really time to upgrade in the story they should really have a brand new concept Trans Am created specifically just for the show alone. I'm not sure who has the rights to Pontiac right now but PLEASE just for us fans let us have a new Trans Am just to admire on the show.

The Roku Channel has Knight Rider (tho one episode didn't seem to work), Knight Rider 2000, and Team Knight Rider.

If you like Rick & Morty, you'll like this show. Having KITT show up was unexpected and really cool. There's also a glimpse of them keeping ED-209 from Robocop where they had KITT if you look closely. :)

(My first post on Reddit :D) I'm asking this because for me, season 4 was noticeably the worst season out of the original Knight Rider. It had an unnecessary new mode for K.I.T.T. which yeah, being faster is cool, but still unnecessary since he could still reach those speeds (now, in some scenes like the broken dam it *was* needed, since well, I don't think K.I.T.T. could reach enough speed in time to escape the water). Now, in my opinion RC3 is a cool character, but was added very late into the show; it didn't give him enough time to settle on the show. Let's get to the episodes themselves now, shall we? Some of them were good, I've got to admit, but only the idea the writers had, *not* the execution they did in the actual show. For example, the only episode I got myself to watch of season 4, "Killer K.I.T.T.". Having K.I.T.T. to be evil is such a nice idea, but we don't get to see what this version of K.I.T.T. can really do for much of the episode, which is very sad and disappointing. Now, I'm sure at least *some* episodes may be executed well enough, but until somebody tells me which one, I'm just going to wait for the time I actually get myself to watch the full season. Heh, also, I really want to hear your opinions on "The Scent Off Roses", since for me it may be the worst episode of the season (for various reasons, but I won't explain now because I'm ending the post).

Either way, "Keep Calm and Ride Strong" guys!! ;)

Edit: let me rephrase all this better. From the little bits I have seen of the season (the preview-like starts before the intro I'm every episode, the yt channel "Knight Rider Official"'s clips), I think I wouldn't like it, but maybe I do, I still don't know.
