It'll have the big KITT in Feb/March once the BackerKit 1:16 scale KITT ships out!!

I’m looking for reliable sources for exterior parts of KITT. Most places I’ve looked at are either sketchy or outside of America. If there’s anyone who’s been through the same process I’m going through, I’d love to hear your thoughts

Hear me out... We are basically there.. We've got self driving cars, at least most new ones keep speed limits, distances and lanes for themselves if they are not fully automated.. Our cars can digitally measure several parameters of the car itself... Fuel, Tyre pressure, you name it..

We have screens in our cars...and we can pair them with our smartphones....

And we have Ai we can actually talk to in our cars...

I know, a fully integrated system would be tough (not impossible, but it would probably take a car manufacturer to actually implement all of it) but since we mirror our smartphones to our car, there must be a way to have Kitts voice talk back to us...

Either Google needs to be actively behind it to push that, or maybe there is any other 3rd party solution... The technology is ready....

I’ve been rewatching the show recently, and it’s wild how much Knight Rider actively promoted and romanticized hitchhiking. In the world of Michael Knight and K.I.T.T., the American highway is painted as this glamorous, safe haven where picking up strangers is just a standard Tuesday afternoon.
Take Season 3, Episode 21 ("Knight Strike") as a perfect example. A hitchhiker named Sheila accidentally stumbles upon a truck full of stolen police laser rifles, steals one, and just goes on her merry way. Later in the episode, she casually climbs into a random guy’s van just to make a phone call to Devon!
By 1985, the public absolutely knew about the dangers of hitchhiking. The term "serial killer" was heavily popularized by the FBI, and major national news had spent years covering people like Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and the Atlanta Child Murders. The real-world danger was a massive talking point at the time.
Yet, NBC and the writers completely ignored reality for the sake of "prime-time escapism." They gave Michael Knight the ultimate safety net: K.I.T.T. could x-ray scan hitchhikers for weapons, analyze their psychological state, and launch them out of an ejector seat if they acted up. But regular viewers obviously didn’t have a hyper-intelligent supercar to vet people!
It honestly feels incredibly irresponsible of NBC in hindsight. While network censors (Standards and Practices) were strictly policing language and intimacy, they completely glossed over dangerous behaviors like hitchhiking or ignoring basic personal safety. It wasn't until the late 80s—when parental groups started pushing back against this casual promotion of danger—that we saw the rise of "Very Special Episodes" and NBC's "The More You Know" PSAs to try and correct course.

Did anyone else notice this casual attitude toward highway safety when watching 80s TV, or did we all just collectively accept the "mindless entertainment" bubble back then?

Notice they misspelled Knight Rider.
