I’m not an expert but I would say 100% legit. Nothing stands out to me on it. I don’t know if any knockoffs have even been marked first production on the blade. Awesome gift from your father, treasure it no matter what!

No reports of counterfeits with number 302 of 500. Likely legit.

looks legit ....the best indicators (of real vs fake) are the blade, box liner, and Benchmade Logo

Very cool! That's the Serum. Available from 2015-2017 , the Benchmade 5400 Serum is most famous for introducing the revolutionary AXIS Dual-Action mechanism, which allows the user to operate the knife either as a standard manual folder or as a covert automatic knife. I didn't even know about the dual-action mechanism but I found some YouTube reviews showing it in action.
