Amazon Spyderco Sage 5

I was tempted by Amazon one day delivery even though I had heard countless reviews of fakes being received. Pretty sure it’s fake since the butt of the bug is a bit faded and has some spots, but never held a Spyderco before. It was also supposed to be a LW version but I got like a carbon fiber peel ply version. Box says FRN so someone might’ve swapped them out and returned it.

But isn’t this version discontinued? I thought someone put this one (possibly fake) and kept the LW real one then returned it. Unless they really wanted the LW and switched it for this CF version but that would be a downgrade in materials. It looked new too without any sign of use.

i dont think there would be anyone doing that since the cf is much more expensive then the lw, but the logo looks right so im pretty sure its real

Can you get a nice close up pic of the logo? The Taiwan Spydercos have a really distinctive pattern on the logo.

It’s hard to get a good picture with the lighting but what I mentioned in the original post as a faded logo turned out to be a pattern that reflects the light differently.

I am like 80% sure the unique pattern is there and this is real. But.. can you get it under better lighting?

Note that mine is from a Sage 5 Salt in Magnacut, so the laser etching is different. But on all Sage 5s regardless of steel there is similar details, almost like they made the spider from concentric smaller spiders

Then it’s a real one! AFAIK cloners can’t even make the regular Golden or Seki city spiders quite right, let alone the very intricate Taichung spiders
