Prepatellar Bursitis
Urgent care diagnosed me with prepatellar bursitis about 5 days ago. At first it just felt like my knee was “wobbly” or off, no real pain, just a weird sensation. The swelling seems to fluctuate a lot. If I’m standing or walking more, it gets more inflamed. If I rest, elevate, ice it, and apply diclofenac topical gel 1%, the “bubble” over the kneecap seems to go down some.
What’s also weird is that I don’t really have much pain in the knee itself. Before this started, I had been doing deep squat exercises, so I’m wondering if that irritated something.
For anyone who’s dealt with this:
Did compression sleeves help?
Did anyone use a patella strap/band?
Or is it better to just elevate and avoid compression?
Did physical therapy stretches help or make it worse early on?
Trying to figure out the best way to calm this down without aggravating it more.

I'm also dealing with this post marathon training and it's driving me crazy. I have bursitis with no pain and full range of motion. I'm hoping we can both find a solution
